I just purchased this S2 at a good price.
It was pretty much the standard build but u usually it’s missing the downtime and seat tube decals.
All the other decals are lacquered over.
I have the serial number.
Any ideas? ImageImage

Are you worried its not legit or are you trying to get the original decals?

More that’s it’s legit, there seem to be lots of decals around.

My no. 1 guess is that it has been crashed and repaired and the owner opted for no decals on downtube.

No sign of a repair at all, I’ve checked the serial number with Cervelo and they have no record but have said it could be a “keystroke error”.
I purchased the bike from eBay and the seller had listed “decals removed for the stealth look”.
It’s only when I got the bike home the next day I realised that the decals were actually lacquered and couldn’t be removed.
I’ve contacted the seller and I’m hoping to return the bike.
I do actually think it’s a legit S2, the little details match, bearings and covers, cable guides etc.
I just don’t want a repaired bike. It cost me £650 plus £40 fuel to collect.
Trouble is I’ve now switched every thing to R8000 and Dura Ace so I’ll have to switch it all back.
Lesson learned, I could kick myself.

650£ for complete bike would be pretty cheap so there could be something wrong. Just saw one 2011 model white S2 frameset auction and it went over 400£. Plus if there is something wrong with serial number I would return it. It don't proof anything as those fake frames have on.

There is too many fakes on ebay so pretty hard to buy anything if seller don't have papers or don't want to co-operate to identify it's real.

After lots of digging it is a real S2.
The original owner decided he wanted a unique look so used carbolift the strip the bottom half of the bike, he then lacquered it with no sanding or primer.
It looked okay when I got it, I decided to put decals on the down tube and they peeled the lacquer off. I had no choice but to strip it and repaint it myself.
After sanding, lots of coats of primer, black paint, new decals and then primer I’m happy with it.
New crank, wheels, bars, stem, shifters, derailleurs and calipers I’m happy.
Currently 7.4kg. Won’t take much to go sub 7 and I can live with that.
First ride tomorrow.
A bit of a nightmare eBay purchase has turned out okay so far, after sanding the frame back to bare carbon I’m also sure there’s no damage to the frame.
Fingers crossed it rides as well as it looks.

Um. You've kinda made it look fake now!

But if you like the look that's the main thing

Very true... I do like the look though so it’s a win.

So I ride it for a few months, preferred my Cannondale. Stripped the Cervelo and sold the frame.
The new owner stripped the paint off (obviously did a far better job then me) Image ImageImage
Lucky it didn’t fall to bits on me! I’m out £650, obviously full refund to the guy who bought it from me.
Lesson learned. No more eBay bikes.

Nothing, silky smooth.
I sanded it back and there were signs of some filler but nothing major.
I built it up and it rode fine, I sold the frame on as I have too many bikes.
The new owner stripped way better than I did and saw this, accused me of trying to rip him off.
I was as stunned as him to see it, gave him a full refund.
I cannot believe damage like this could even be repaired. Pretty disgusted that somebody has repaired this and put it back in to the market. Total scum.
No wonder my Hi-Mod Supersix rode better.
I’m lucky it didn’t fall to bits when I was riding it I guess. I’m down £650 which isn’t great.
Not sure if I have any cone back on eBay after 6 months and after paying cash.
