I went with too simple/quiet of a paint job on my custom bike and kind of regretted not going with something a bit bolder.
That's something you can easily change though.
Well, it's not *that* easy. You have to commit to ditching the paint you already paid for, then strip the bike and be without it for weeks while it's repainted, then completely rebuild it. it's a massive faff, in fact.

That apart, paint is the one thing you can make definitely your own with a custom build so it's worth considering this aspect fully. You want people to look at your bike and know it's something different.

Paint is such a personal thing, some like loud, others more subtle. The main thing is you can make it "yours" in whatever way you like (to an extent) as many builders will have some restrictions. My long term plan is every 5-10 years the bike will get a new group set and paint job. This way I am not freaked out if I get a scratch as I plan on using the bike hard.

The great thing about Baum is you can’t really *f##k* up the paint, you have to use their schemes and can only choose colour. For 99% of the population this is the best method of abomination prevention.

All the details are pretty much decided on, fit has been done, geometry is sorted. This should be an old school race bike with some bling. Now all I need to do is sit back and wait for 6 or 7 months..... this will test my patience to a new level, lol.
A quick summary is a long and low Baum Ristretto, rim brake, ext cabling, Ultegra mech group, CK hubs-BB-HS, Hed C2 tubulars, Veloflex Vlaanderen 27c tyres, HZ TT, -17 stem, and a bold paint job!

Oh my....

That will indeed be stunning. I'm a big fan of bold colors in a classic (classy) scheme that will stand the test of time. Can't wait to see it complete and congratulations!
