KMC X11SL vs DURA ACE 11 CHAIN
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi, recently I've been building a Bianchi frame, with some good components. I have installed a Dura Ace 9000 group, a Ultegra 8000 crank and a Campy Super Record cassette, but I need a new chain. What would you recommend? (I thought of a KMC x11sl Golden, but I'm not sure)
THANKS
THANKS
If you must have gold colored chain.. then KMC it is... i have mine on full campy with no issues for years. Otherwise ultegra 11 chain or xtr/da ia the way to go. I had problem with kmc on DA crankset. Not so much on the DA cassettes but i noticed kmc chain was noisier on DA full group compared to shimano chains

Here in the U.S. the Dura Ace is much cheaper than the KMC chain. I buy them for $35. I don't know how much it costs in your country.

I have swapped between both chains on an otherwise DA 9000/9100 setup. Functionally I cannot tell them apart except for the KMC being slightly more noisy. I mostly use the KMC as it is cheaper than the DA chain.
Of these two, KMC, should last longer and unlike DA it doesn't rust

KMC X11SL chains in silver and gold are often $38 on Amazon. I just buy a few at a time when that happens.

I’m a happy, long-time KMC rider. They’re quiet and haven’t rusted on me!
I haven’t run a Shimano (or SRAM) chain in years, so I have no first-hand knowledge of all this mind-blowing stuff...

Wow. The KMC is noisier? I’ve read for years that KMC is quiet(er).happyon2wheels wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:27 amI have swapped between both chains on an otherwise DA 9000/9100 setup. Functionally I cannot tell them apart except for the KMC being slightly more noisy...
Rusty chains?! Seems I’m way out of the loop on my chain knowledge.
