Hi all,

I own a pair of DT Swiss PRC 1400 Spline wheels. They have minimal graphics but I would like to have them even more stealth so they only have the two DT Swiss logos. I want to remove the "PRC 1400 Spline" text.

DT Swiss use heat treated waterslides so a hair dryer will not work so I'm probably left with some kind of solvent but obviously I won't do anything which can damage the carbon rims.

I read somewhere about a person who used toluene but that was on aluminium rims.

Does anyone know if toluene will damage the rims?

Is there any clearcote over top? If so they only way you're gonna get at it is by sanding the clear off...

Acetone is recommended by ENVE for removal of tubular glue from rims...

Dont use toulene. It is the kind of solvent that could affect the resins. The only way to remove water transfer decals is to scrap them off. They are chemically bonded to the rim.

Why buy branded rims if you dont want the branding. If you bought DT Swiss rim because you thought they are magically better than some of the unbranded ones from china or taiwan your are sadly mistaken.

Are Chinese wheels just as aero as DT?

I want to keep the DT Swiss logos so I don't mind the branding. I just want them to have a simpler look. I will stay away from toluene as my initial thought was it could affect the resin.

I feel better purchasing a wheel from a highly respected manufacturer like DT Swiss than some guy assembling Chinese rims out of his garage. But that's just me.

erm that sterotyping right there. Chinese rims can be made by reptuable manufacturers you have not heard of.

Yes aero depends mostly on the depth anyway. Also I am not a believer in conventional wind tunnel tests. Theres too many assumptions and the flow too static to draw any real world conclusions.

DT swiss do many funny things with there wheel design which are not optimial to hit weight goals. These are ignored because of the DT Swiss brand.

Black permanent marker will stealth the decals up with minimal fuss. Plus you now have a subtle lettering effect which is pretty tidy.
