has anyone tried this retrofit? any info on the manufacturer.

If I recall correctly, the 9100's use loose balls up near the crank threads - and these loose balls run directly on the original steel spindle. So by putting in a Ti spindle you will be running those bearings directly on a Ti surface. My thought is you will quickly wear a groove on the spindle as the Ti will wear much faster than with the hardened steel
