I'm wondering if the newly designed XTR 12-speed chain, which is supposed to be narrower, quieter with better engagement, work on existing Dura Ace 9100 or Ultegra 8000 groupset? If it does, maybe it can help the noise that some of us are experiencing?

It seems marginally lighter too. Has anyone tried this?

Bump
Shimano says it's compatible with both 12 and 11-speed drivetrain, but it's not clear whether it's the new XTR 11-speed which is just the new 12-speed cassette minus 1 or backward compatible with ultegra/dura ace groupsets.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks

11/12 compatibility means only for the XTR cassette which was supposed to come in 3 different versions, 2 different 12-speeds and same spacing 11-speed.

I would not put this on 11-speed drivetrain as chain is narrower and might thus delay shifting. I haven’t measured sprocket thickness to verify if it would fit. Chain seems to fit in 11-speed non-N/W chainrings but not on N/W unless they are stated to be 12-speed.

Wow, I had to look up what narrow wide chainrings were. I didn't even know they existed. Have you actually tried this: 12-speed chain on 11 speed non-N/W chainrings?

Thanks again.
