I think you’ll find that the bars are in the exact same position as they would be if there was a normal stem mounted on top of the head tube. Looks deceiving but having seen the bike in the flesh it is very nice.

I know that the rise of the stem itself is +6 but the spacing below the stem is too much. The owner of this bike should have opted for something less racy.

or a bigger size.. they seem to have plenty of seatpost.. but then again maybe the TT would have been too long on the next size up.

Good point. Perhaps this is for someone who should be on a 61 but since they don’t make it....

Good Bike porn? Echoing others no......Lots of expensive parts bolted together but not desirable. Plus a poor fit accomplished via many stem spacers and large downward saddle tilt. My own conclusion is it’s similar to a “coyote date”.

I've seen aero bikes with +40mm of spacer stack. That's partly why i feel this aero effect in some cases have become a bit ridiculous.
Such stack height is horrible with other bikes to, but aero bikes are made for one reason (speed/ long and low).
Bikes:

Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)

Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

That stem gives me the shivers. No matter how you want to look at it, I always end up thinking it's purely a solution to get a MAMIL on an aero bike. Everyone should ride a bike that fits them properly, not a bike which is fitted with some gimmick that destroys the original idea of an aero bike.

Hopefully the pros get a "Pro" looking solution.

There seems to be this train of thought that if you bolt on enough name brand and expensive parts you will have a nice looking bke. I've seen more nice budget builds that flow well than this example.
That's #roadbikedubai summed up.

But for a bike that needs a high stack, but wants aero... i guess it is a good solution... if you can stomach fit being thrown out the window.
It’s a -8 stem that can take 30mm of spacers. Not sure how that caters to the high stack crowd or throws fit out the window? :noidea:

Why do you think that? In what way does it cater to MAMILs better that a normal design?

Why do you think the S5 stem means the bike doesn’t fit, and why do you think it destroys the idea of aero?

Isnt the stem angle to do with the design of the bike? The stem angle is to compensate for a very short headtube and this has been done deliberately for aero reasons. They are throwing the rule book out the window regarding flipped stems, its another way of thinking. I dont know about bike porn but unless your young, athletic and fast you're going to look like a complete dick on this bike and many others like it.

There's just so much ugly about this bike, I don't quite know where to begin.
