Bianchi Specialissima? Colnago C64 with custom paint?

I don't think the BMCs from 5 years ago aged very well. Too angular. Most nearly all modern carbon bikes are just kind of throwaways in my opinion. For something to be a "classic" it has to have something that's truly unique. The Colnago is lugged. The Bianchi is Celeste with classic lines and unique carbon layup technology.

I also think you're selling the Allez short. That is a classic. If you want something a bit spicier maybe get one in the Red Hook Crit paint. Or a Cinelli Strato which has crazy agressive 74 degree tube angles.

Anything custom Ti or Steel will age well. They really aren't much more expensive than the others your considering, though have a very different ride. Maybe Xcr steel if you like something a bit zippier.

Cervelo RCA, that's a a bike all will read about, know about and wonder about.
The rest, i don't think they are of interest when + 5 years (or shorter) have passed.

If I lived in a flat area and owned a SystemSix, I would never want to ride any other road bike. But since you live in Chicago, do you ride at all in the winter? I was living in Spokane last year and I rode my gravel bike with 40mm tires from fall through spring. There are slippery leaves everywhere in the fall and lots of sand on the roads during the winter. My gravel bike with fat tires was just the ticket. I didn't take my Colnago out until it warmed up in the later part of spring.

A gravel bike doesn't need to be reserved for gravel only.

Good point. RHC paint cost arm and a leg now so I'll probably pass on that. Mine is Edition X1, which is xx/100 bikes been made (Red + polished alu): not as desireable as RHC, but I probably won't see another one on the road :)

Bike in winter time: thanks, no :) I've been riding more during winter several years ago. For example, now it's just above zero: 33-35F/1-3C outside. Cannot see what would make me want to go outside and ride bike. Running - yes, bike - naah, thanks. I ride publicly availably Divvy bikes to work, 6-8 blocks, that's enough to keep smile on my face :) I miiiight pickup something later for getting around the city, but this will be prety cheap bike: it's Chicago, anything might be stolen.

Your X1 Allez sounds super kick ass to me. I defintely wouldn't sell it.

Excellent choice! Although, even lighter...... Scott Addict SL. Incredible bike. Classic hyper bike super light timeless classic (and I got my beautiful I’m aculate frame for only £500!)

I think the Trek Emonda has a nice classic look in the modern style. And looks good in 50mm deep wheels.

2019 madone slr. the rest of the industry will need to develop some sort of compliancy in there aero bikes.

i think the 2007 cervelo r3 with the csc decals. squard downtube has been copied by every other company in the last 10 years

That's great!
But Cervelo RCA is a benchmark, which in all honesty i can't say Addict is.
I could go on about people riding both RCA aswell as sold them for another brand.
But it seems unnecessary.
The thing is that RCA has been that bike which others have tried to beat.
Like Ax Lightness, Rolo to name a few.
You can also counterweight such things as stiffness to weight, durability aso.
I like to see designers going forth and refining the same concept. This makes a product have an inbuilt "kind of" quality.
Cervelo revised RCA as Ax revised the Vial EVO platform several times.
This tells me they have used learning to make things better.
Weight alone doesn't sell me over. It's the whole of knowledge aswell as the designers prio.
I prefer lightweight over aero since i know i am not able to ride the pose i know is needed, to gain anything from aero (i mean the all in now).
This is why i went for the new Vial EVO Race. It comes out at a bit more weight than my previous Vial EVO, but there are reasons which are well worth it.

None of the other bikes mentioned here is a classic in the veins of RCA.
