Hi wws

A friend recently switched to a full duraace 9000 bike and chains are not exactly cheap. Because he is on a trainer the next few months it makes little sense to wear out a duraace chain.

It's got the magic pin so it needs to be converted to quicklink. I could order original shimano quicklinks but we happen to have kmc quicklinks. I was wondering if anyone has experienced problems or premature wear with kmc links on a duraace chain.

What happened to me once was that a quicklink (maybe fake) didn't fit the chain snugly but quite loose meaning the pins were not large enough, or the inner plate holes of the chain not small enough. The result was that the chain got stretched just over those links and basically wore out the inner plates that the quicklink connects to while the rest of the chain was still ok. (I had noise I couldn't locate, measured chain several times and tested ok until I was lucky enough to measure over the quicklink, bam! Problem found.)

It’s ok. I ran it this way until Shimano introduced their own quick links.

+1 on this. The 11spd KMC links work fine with Shimano 11spd chains.
