Fork - Going from steel to carbon, but...
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi guys,
I have the previous model Cotic Escapade that I use for winter/rain rides. (The grey model with straight fork steerer and QR/10mm TA.)
I was thinking about changing the heavy 1kg steel fork to a carbon fork, but have problems location a fork that has the following details:
1: Straight 1 1/8 steerer
2: QR/open dropout (hub can't be TA converted)
3: Carbon
4: Disc specific
5: Around 500-600 grams
6: Can not cost a gazzilion dollars.
Would you have any recommendations?
Thanks

That’s a nice looking bike. I’d leave that fork and upgrade wheels and crank to save weight.
I agree and saving some grams on a winter/rain bike isn't a big deal. You'd need something like this:GothicCastle wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 6:45 amThat’s a nice looking bike. I’d leave that fork and upgrade wheels and crank to save weight.

You have a tall looking fork so pay attention to rake and the axel to crown distance on any replacement fork. A $600 aero wheelset would make you a lot faster than a lighter fork.
