Colnago C64 Project => Super Record EPS or SRAM ETAP
Moderator: robbosmans
Hellow everybody,
I'm getting myself a nice Christmas present with a new Colnago C64 in the black on black color.
The big answer is which groupset and wheels I'm gonna take.
It's a versus between:
- super record eps v3, Campagnolo bora wheels and deda cockpit
- Etap with quarq powermeter, zipp 404 or 454nsw wheels and zipp cockpit
What would you pick on the Colnago C64?

I would go with Campy aswell.
I agree. You can upgrade to EPS when it becomes available.

I've owned about 15 Colnagos. All have been Campy, usually Record. However, after switching my travel bike to eTap earlier this year, I'd go eTap. My one experience with EPS (an early version the year they came out) wasn't happy and I wouldn't go that way if I were going Campy again. I'm also not sure about Campy discs if you're going that way.
I've never understood the obsession sticking with Campy on Colnagos. The teams that raced Colnagos successfully in the 90s and 00s used Dura Ace and Ernesto kept giving them frames.

I’d say EPS, just for style points, unless you want a crank-based power meter.
But this feels like a questionable time to buy either. Updates might be coming.

Still in doubt...
Can get the Record EPS at the same price as the Etap with quarq powermeter ( Super record EPS is 600 euro more expensive). So I still need to buy a powermeter.
Maybe I can order the EPS without the crank and buy the Power2max version. Otherwise it would be Garmin vector 3 pedals.
The Bora ultra 50 Dark would be around the same price as the Zipp 404 NSW. There Is a nice deal on the Bora one wheels wich makes them 800 euro less expensive then the ultra version.
I can get my bike a little bit cheaper if I'm gonna build it with super record 12 speed, but I don't know if I want to go mech again (Now riding with the DI2 dura ace disc version).

FWIW, I'm going with all Record 12 speed mechanical with SR crankset. Then will buy SR EPS v4 conversion kit when it comes out and sell Record 12 speed mechanical less the SR crankset and cassette.ODC wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 4:12 pmStill in doubt...
