As i said i want to experiment with things until i find a sweet spot, and in groupsets that is Campagnolo Record or Chorus 2015+ 11 speed.. Also i prefer to have same groupset on all my bikes (reason: Ergonomy im used of it and know work for me, function allready tested as proven for me, and easier maintence)
So for this build i slowly completed a new groupset which is made of:
Campagnolo Chorus 52/36 crankset (172.5), Chorus 12-29 cassette, Chorus FD, other parts (Shifters, Rear Deral Mid Cage) Record
After ditching the idea about Factor O2 (the one that i wanted was not with proper seatpost setback i needed, and had to spend extra for new seatpost, also BBRight BB which i was not sure how will work with Campy Ultra Torque crankset after finding some creaking issues around), as i said i almost went for Bianchi Specialissima..
Even bought Chorus Brakes (regular ones) because of that.. But.. Price got higher instead of lower, than a bit doubt about sizing compromise (i test ride Oltre XR4 in 55, realized is big and did not like handling with 100mm stem).. So 53 definetely better, but with high spacers stack (idealy will be 54 which dont exist)...
So since Tarmac Sl6 use Direct Mount brakes i needed new brakes.. I realized based on reading around that for 54 and smaller size, can be problem interfering with frame, and for that purpose there is some remedies like EEBrakes Tarmac 54 or smaller angled bridge
https://r2-bike.com/CANE-CREEK-eeBrake- ... heel-Brake
But EEBrake was my last ressort (many very steep climbs where i live, and reading that EEBrake are great for lightweight brakes, but not on pair with Campagnolo or Shimano, also much above my budget)...
So decided to give a chance to Campagnolo Direct Mount older version brakes...
Both (Front and Rear) are same weight of 165gm
Carbon Brake Bridge and Bolts included with the frame (4 gm and 5 gm)
And the question i was worried about? Does Campy Record Direct Mount interfere with frameset in 54 or smaller?
Regarding this i got some different answers, even suggestion to go with Bontrager brakes (SpeedStop)(which after checking with someone he has same issue, he confirmed that those wont work properly), and after checking they all seem like a problem.. So anyway i had a chance to test Campy's if they work or not, and to buy them after that...
They interfere with the frame when there is no cable tension, but in real world when cable installed no problem at all.. They work perfectly.. And their braking performance are all i ever need from brakes in conditions i ride (again, plenty of very steep hills/climbs where i live, also some of them long.. Also cold weather in winter, and very hot in summer)..
Just in case i put frame protection transparent sticker on this part of the frame to avoid any scratching if somehow cable is broken (which never ever happened to me in my many cycling years)...
