I got eebrakes in very good condition used for maybe 1/3rd the cost of new. Still not cheap... but i saved a lot of money for callipers with near dura ace braking, and 171g without pads for the pair.

These are highly optimistic figures. You'll be hard pressed to touch 25g of weight saving for the cleat bolts.
Likewise for the various screws, brake and pivot bolts. And to clarify, these specialised bolts are not " cheap" per se either.
That's pretty conservative. Cheap pumps and the really light ones can be as much as 200g difference.
Then again, the really light ones are not exactly "cheap" either.
My suggestion -- and I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet -- is to fill your tires with helium instead of air. Helium is lighter than air so you'll save some grams. Plus, you may be able to float up the climbs, ahead of your club ride friends. (Why else do you think Ridley named its climbing bike the Helium)? Also, at coffee stops, you can delight your friends by taking a nip from the tire valve and speaking in a squeaky voice.

Except that you can't use helium on normal rubber tubes nor tyres ....Stendhal wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 3:49 amMy suggestion -- and I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet, to my knowledge -- is to fill your tires with helium instead of air. I'd take the helium idea with a grain of saltmaxxevv wrote:Except that you can't use helium on normal rubber tubes nor tyres ....Stendhal wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 3:49 amMy suggestion -- and I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet, to my knowledge -- is to fill your tires with helium instead of air. Not sure we have to mix “big gains” and “cheap gains”. EeBrake saves a lot but the $/g is not great (150g for 450$ that’s 0.3g/$)
2lo8 who did an interesting zero carbon bike has a website where he listed really interesting savings where 2g/$ is just “OK” and 5 or 6g/$ very good.

OK some of those postings were guesses, but you also seem way off.maxxevv wrote: ↑Tue Nov 20, 2018 3:46 am

The titanium cleat bolts include the shims for Shimano systems, so the weight is pretty much right.
I live in China and good (and garbage) quality titanium and aluminium alloy bolts are fairly cheap per gram.
Also the pump figure is about right. I own several mini pumps and I actually use my heaviest at 103g, becuase I find it the most use-able, so I have no clue what you are talking about there. Maybe it's easy to find a 200g difference between floor pumps, but not mini pumps.
I suggest that you might like contribute to the thread by posting your own ideas or something someone else has found about cheap ways of taking weight off their bike. Or if you really want to find someone else wrong than actually try using data rather than guesses. We're mostly all here to learn.
Works fine for me.WILLIAMDENYS wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 7:53 pmIm thinking about buying a smud full carbon saddle... saves around 150grams of my prologo zero 2 pas... someone has experience?
