CHAPTER2 Huru Lightweight Frame

While everyone on WW seemingly is obsessed with aero bikes, Kiwi brand Chapter2 has announced a light weight climbing frame:

Nice to see some trad frames still coming out but for a pure climbing frame this is not very light. 800g frame, and 370 fork is pretty heavy. BB86 cuts out all the light cranks. (or commits to poor bearing life). Not sure about designing it around a 0 degree seatpost, and 220g for a zero degree post is crazy heavy. Also the angles (particularly the fork) look a bit odd. A miss from me.

Yeah, that’s a total miss for me too. Geometry in my size is wonky (for me). 73.5 degree seattube, for all sizes no less. And a Zero degree seatpost. Not a chance. No idea what the designer(s) was thinking on this one.
And I don’t think everyone on WW is obsessed with aero bikes.

Mike Pryde has designed a proper climbing bike previously- the Neil Pryde Bura SL. My frame stripped came in at 720g with a 280g fork.

Bold arguing that a climbing bike doesn't need to be light, which is their claim. That somehow it's going to climb better than lighter frames from Cannondale, Canyon, etc, because of the superior design. At least they left the paint off, as a painted climbing bike is truly an oxymoron.

Guess we'll find out soon enough, since Chapter 2 replaces Cervelo as the bike sponsor for the womens Bigla pro team, using the Huru and Rere.

Merida Scultura has been reported a noodle as an example.
I mean, weight in all honor, but once you have experienced things failing, atleast i have, then i think that adding a bit of weight is not a bad idea.
You can still get a very light bike, which is stiff and won't crack just by riding it.
Most people reconsider when they find themselved in an expensive shitstorm and back up, is not easy to get.
I have learned my lesson.

My first bura sl cracked - they warrantied it and the replacement was 4 years old and going strong until a tree branch went into my front wheel and destroyed the frame (and I beat the crap out of that frame before it died).

As far as climbing bikes - my wilier zero.6 came in at 681 in a small and my focus izalco max was 736 in a medium. Both with the derailleur hanger on when weighed.

I weight my bike with FD/RD hangers and headset.
My EVO bikes, with BB pressed in. Last bike, i went for the beefed up Evo Race.
I run 56 size frame. Last is perhaps closer to 55/56.
In standard bikes you'll still need a BB in the frame which i guess add about 100grams (most cases alot more).
I tried alot of bearings on my previous Vial EVO D, never any issues with direct-press bearings (talking frame fit).
Lucky i did, that's also why i decided against ceramic bearings.
I think Cervelo RCA had some issues with direct-press in bearings though!?
Atleast at seemed like it when i mailed Cervelo support/ tech about it.

Anybody have hands on experience with the Huru frameset?
I'm also considering this frame.
Alternative to an Focus Izalco max rim brake frameset.
