For those buying a new machine... disc or rim?

I need to check this since the debate is on.
You guys who actually buy a new bike, not just pondering on what you may do IF you got the cash.
Do you buy a disc brake machine or do you buy a rim brake?

I ask this because i would like to see among you who answer, how many disc vs rim brake bikes it sums up to between us.

Since i ask, i can start. I will get a new frameset and it will be rim brake and none aero.
Why?
I have two sets of wheels, i have the things i like (Etap, updated EE brakes).
I seldom use the brakes and have no need to since i don't have long winding descents.
For crap weather i change wheelset and ride my UP on the road.
I like the light snappy bikes, so WW over aero.

Just bought a new rim braked Tarmac. I haven't had any issues stopping with my rim brakes (even in the rain) and don't feel like swapping out all my wheels. Discs are not enough of a supposed upgrade nor a fix for any issues I currently have.

Getting a new bike in the not so distant future. Rim brakes, non-aero. I've raced and trained for more thna 10 years and have only ever twice felt like I'd maybe like a little better braking in adverse conditions (heavy rain on a steep, long descent). Outside of that, I've never had any issues stopping a bike. Newer carbon wheels brake wonderfully. Maybe the most important of all - I've yet to test ride a disc brake equipped bike I have liked. They don't feel the same to me. They aren't as snappy or responsive to a rim-braked counterpart, and the ride feel just feels off to me. I don't like it. There's the weight thing too, but I'd just go with it and convert to disc brakes if I ever just rode one and felt like I do on a rim-braked machine. Even then, like I said, I'll happily do long descents on decent carbon wheels or put my aluminums back on if the weather looks bad. I'm just not sold on the idea that they are even necessary. I can lock up wheels on both setups easily enough. Really it just comes down to braking surface in certan conditions for me, and that's about it.

I personally prefer rim but I’m considering a disc brake bike for my next as I can ride it in crap weather and not worry about cleaning it so much...so basically it’s a training/winter bike...if it were for racing I would go rim...

I fell we're still a generation away from a good disc brakes solution.
They still need to be lighter, figure out the noise and brakes rubs problem and wheel changes without re-adjusting the caliper.

Just purchased a rim brake Colnago V2R and I am happy with it. I have several pairs of rims for rim brake and my area of riding is vertually flat. The V2R has direct mount brakes which is a first for me and I think they are more powerful than my standard but that is just my opinion. My CX bike has disc hyd and the MTB I just got rid of had disc hyd. For me those bikes are best with disc.

bike and wheels are expensive... especially when buying 3 within one year.. ouch.

I am doing this backwards.

I bought a set of eeBrake G4 El Rosado brakes (direct mount). Couldn’t pass them up. Now am hunting around for a frame.

I bought a DM EE front brake ealiier in the year... (my bike was normal centerbolt).. I ended up searching high and low for a DM fork to fit my bike from another mfg...just so I could use the EE brake.... then sold the bike a couple months later.. I know the feeling.

My next bike will be rim brake, non aero.

I want good fit, comfy ride, well-mannered bike. I will not go full WW either as I want gear that is VERY durable!

I made the switch to discs three bikes ago. Not because of the brakes, but because of thru-axles.

I still have one favorite old rim brake bike (with two sets of wheels). Once it's gone, I'll be 100% on disc/12mm TA.

I currently have three disc bikes, and several sets of wheels that are fully interchangeably between them (yes the rotors line up fine).

The rim bike is a sentimental favorite, but I hardly ever ride it.
