Oh nice, so the 23's should be 23 too then. I want something aero for my new front rim with a 17mm internal :P

Price probably won't drop for a while though. They'll start flogging off all the 4000 stock first :)

I think I read that they aren't making 23s.

Tubeless isn't available in 23mm. Only 25, 28 and 32mm.
If you want GP 5000 in 23mm, you should buy clincher.

He did the width test on a 15C rim. The 25mm tire will likely be 26mm (new) and 27mm (stretched) on a 17C rim just like the GP 4000!

What will be interesting is to measure the actual width of the GP5K 28mm. The GP4K 28mm is a monster and perhaps the GP5K 28mm will be slightly smaller than the GP4K 28mm.

I hope the new 5000 isn't as tall. Width isn't an issue for me on my Colnago but the height is.

Same on my S1... but that's probably a great deal of why it's so aero. We'll have to see.

I wonder if the clinchers have the same bead and can be used tubeless?

Continental's diagrams make it quite clear they don't have the same bead. Whether they can be used ghetto tubeless is another question, but not one that I'm keen on testing when it comes to road tyres!

I meant the same bead material, the shape will just make the proper TL ones easier to seat and seal initially.

If the tubeless one is indeed 17% faster than a GP4000s2 tubed that will make it as fast as Galactik tires, combined with the puncture protection of this tire I am guessing it will be a success. Weight would be the only drawback (and maybe case stiffness if it's like 4000s2).

My guess is if it's successful tubeless tire prices will stay up because of 5000 which would be another drawback since you could find discounted tubeless tires at good prices recently.

I'm glad to see that the 5000 measures up about 1mm lower in height.

Haha, ghetto tubeless on non-tubeless beads at road tire pressures. I doubt it would hold long enough for you to get it on the road, it would be entertaining and messy to watch though :)

Betting the tubeless version slots in right behind the Fusion 5 Galactik as the third fastest tubeless tire on BRR.
