Hey fellas,

I've been lurking here for a few years and thought I'd share some progress on my S3 project.

I'm interested to see all of your true WW projects and I know this doesn't sit there with all of yours but I'm starting! As an 84kg 6foot1 rider weight isn't the absolute most important factor, saying that I want to shave off where I can.

Weights to follow when bike completely finished.

Project comments so far:

- 2015 Cervelo S3
- Fatcreations prismatic silver respray (saved 180g).
- Carbon fill all gear cable holes.
- strip Zipp SL-70 Aero bars and reapply clear lacquer.
- Zipp SL-Sprint stem 110mm (heavy but I love it).
- Enve SES 4.5 continental with supersonic inner tubes.
- Enve titanium skewers.
- Jagwire pro brake cables.
- SRAM etap.
- C-bear Ceramic BB.
- lizard skin bar tape.
- Dura-ace 9000 chainset with Stages2 pm.
- k-edge chain catcher and Wahoo mount.
- S-Works turbo 24mm tyres.
- Fizik Arione R1 large, braided.

Next:
- I was considering changing the chainset. I still use the DA9000 as I invested in the stages Power meter and couldn't see the value in getting rid of it now. Tempted to find a better option however. What do you think?
- what bottle cages would you suggest?
- I need to lower the stem slightly and remove the excess steerer, then I'll have a nice flush stem top. Ant recommended steerer expanders?

Any other suggestions?

I'd like to take some pictures in full sun or sunset so you can see the true prismatic effect.

All considered, I'm pretty happy with it.

Stunning paintjob and great build. The black red 22 chainset with a quark pm would function just as well, and perhaps help complete the look

Looks fantastic! If I may ask, how much is the paintjob like this?

Alistair at Fatcreations - utterly incredible guy. Check out his Instagram for inspiration!

Its about £650 which includes the rubbing down, prep, undercoats, prismatic, candy or flip paint and lacquer. Includes about 10 flatting back and relaquering to make sure decals (none in my case) are flat with paint.

My decals are just bare exposed carbon from the frame which cost a little more. On top of that, i had all of the gear cable frame holes carbon-patched and the handlebars stripped and lacquered. All in it was about £800.

Yes that's certainly the route I was thinking too... the pure black chainset would be best on that bike.

Thanks mate.

Man that paint looks sweet. And I love a bike with a healthy saddle to bar drop.

What size is the frame, and do you know the final weight?

Quite expensive, but worth it if the bike is a keeper. I especially like the ,,carbon´´ decals, it looks much much better than simple sticker.

Btw, I´d expect 3k weave on Cervelos more likely than UD.

Yeah it's an interesting cinema to spend that money on an 'old bike. I guess two things come into play:

1. Fatcreations are one of the best sprayer in the world. They did the limited edition Silca floor pumps and will do Stork limited editions next year. They had a 18 month wait list so you join the queue and see what bike you have come d-day.

2. I feel I'm stuck with Rim brakes for a while as my old Enve 3.4's were replaced under warranty with 4.5's only this summer... silly really, but it makes me feel I should stick with this bike for a while until the next upgrade in a few years when tech has moved on a lot. (I do love the new SLR Madone and the 2019 S5).

Carbon weave... yeah it's mostly UD carbon although you can see 3d stuff around the top of the seat tube where it's reinforced... I'd have loved to see the bottom bracket layup.

Thanks a lot mate :beerchug:

It's a 56 frame, 110mm stem with around 10mm spacer, i like the hoods almost flat too, not a big fan of big bull horn style hoods.

There's a decent stack on the S3 so not as extreme as the picture may look.

I would definitely get a black crank whatever it may be. I had the 2015 S3 as well and stuck with the OEM star but for the compression plug. The alloy steerer insert makes that a safer choice. I never had issues with it coming loose ever unlike my eeNut at the moment on my Izalco.

I feel like the saddle should be something different, maybe a different colour? I don’t know exactly but at the moment it seems to stick out. Could be the rails and not the whole saddle.
