Trying to source out a SR 11Sp upgrade to my bike that has 10Sp Record. Don’t seem to find rear mechanisms available, but see a source online that has everything, except the rear deraileur is an “HO” type with either medium or short cage.

Are these basically the same as a regular SR rear deraileur? Which should I get if I intend to use it with a 11/29 cassette and a compact chain set?

Thanks

All the newest derailleurs are HO optimized and work fine on a non-HO bike. I'm pretty sure that Graeme has stated that the medium cage derailleur actually shifts better with the 11-29 than the short cage.

Yes, HO RDs, short and medium cage are compatible with levers post-2015 (Rev+) marked "A".

The medium cage HO RD is a better proposition with 12-29 or 11-29 and a compact chainset (and the only recommended option with 11-32) as the changes made around the upper knuckle increase the torsional rigidity of the RD over the non HO Rev+ RDs and so are better when cross-chaining to the bottom 3 sprockets or so, which riders tend to do much more with a Compact set-up. Shifting is generally slightly sharper and the system runs a little quieter, too, as well - the jockey wheel design is also modified, top and bottom.

Non-HO short looks better with carbon cage but is medium HO also working better with 11-27 cassette on 130 spaced frame? Just thinking is there any reason to choose older model if running 11-27/11-29 cassette?

Are all 2015+ levers Rev+ and marked A or are there different 2015+ levers?
