Personally, I think the 11 speed crankset looks much better compared to the 12 speed version. If one were building a new bike then I can see buying the latest and greatest 12 speed groupset but personally I couldn't see spending almost $3K to "upgrade" to 12 speed especially with only two cassettes available that add little utility (actually zero for me).

I like retro/modern cross-overs. I like seeing bike being upgraded loved and ridden, rather than held as museum pieces (although that is okay too if that is your thing), so I have no problem seeing modern pieces mixed in.

From an aesthetic standpoint I do think a five arm skinnier crank have better proportions with a skinny steel tube frame, but I have no problem with black carbon pieces. However, once getting used to the thicker modern crank, it's fine :) , it looks cool. These steel frames perform and ride really nice with modern lightweight components. I have a Colnago Master myself, not as bling as yours, but still with somewhat modern carbon components.

Ride what you like - rather SR12 than DuraAce, I say ;)
(Never disk brakes, though)
