I recently bought a J&L seat clamp to replace my stock Orbea clamp. The J&L weighs 10g, versus the stock one weighing 25g. Pretty good savings for a 10$ part.
Anyways, after getting the clamp I noticed it is shorter than the Orbea clamp. The Orbea clamp is 13mm tall, and covers the whole clamping area on the seat tube. The J&L clamp is only 9mm and leaves an unclamped portion of the clamping area.
So, besides looking like shite, will this shorter clamp cause any issues? I could look around and find a taller clamp I’m sure.
