EPS V3 Battery in seatpost - Install Question

I got the 27.2 mm adapter which came with a long strip of foam as well... one side has an adhesive strip to remove.. I can't find any documentation anywhere what to do with this strip... On the bottle mount setup, they say consider mounting some elastic spacers at then end of the battery to reduce vibrations... they show a pic which looks like the foam.. so I take it by elastic they mean foam... and I guess that strip is there for anti vibration to put on the post in case it bounces against the seatpost internals?
