Looking for a new disc bike with full internal cabling at the front end. This bike will be used for a bit of everything so i'm not looking for an out and out aero super bike (Venge, Madone, Cannondale). The BMC Teammachine would be an option and also the new Focus Izalco Max. Any others to recommend? Had the tarmac disc been clean at the front and integrated the cabling like the venge then that would have been a winner. Not that I have a cable phobia - but I like the clean lines without cables. Thanks

The new Izalco Max disc will have full internal cabling? I must have missed that. I did a quick search and all the links for the 2019 model are dead; perhaps someone posted photos/info which they weren’t supposed to?

I have the new SLR01 disc and the clean lines are awesome. They are really eye catching and I get tonnes of complements on the bike. But this does come at a cost. 1) The initial setup is a bit more complicated. Nothing major but it does take some extra time to set it up or change components. 2) The extensive integration adds weight: I believe that’s why the Émonda Disc doesn’t have brake hose routing through the fork. The SLR01 disc isn’t the lightest frame compared to say an Émonda or Tarmac. 3) It makes it impossible to change some key bike fit components like the stem.

Cabling (hosing) internal fork seems to be a premium feature. On the rear stay, I've only seen a few of these. After building my bike, I wouldn't bother as you can't see the hose if the downtube exit is under the BB. Brake hoses would be difficult to pull unless the exit is quite a bit up the chainstay anyway (Hydro disc hoses can bend more than cables, but the hoses still need to be rigid to prevent expansion). Looking at bikes like this

I'd say this is the worst case scenario

better
(Obrea internal, top exit)

(Cervelo with a loop)

even better (emonda external , but under)
You basically only see it if you look through the wheel spokes at the right angle.

Best (Giant TCR, quick exit)

Most bikes are unfortunately black, so you can get away with a lot in the rear when you over the silver hose end. I'd focus more on the front-end routing. Just about any routing in the rear will be clean and aero as long as you don't route it down the top.

This site https://www.peterterlouw.nl/focus-izalc ... c-9-7-2019 has the 2019 models but you can't search for them on their site just through google. Thanks for the feedback about the BMC.

One thing I wish BMC would release more variations of their stems. There's only a -12 degree version with lengths between 90mm to 130mm. I'd love to see a -6 or -8 degree version or an 80mm for riders who prefer a less agressive fit.

Looks like the 2019 Izalco follows the same design cues and build as the BMC. I really like the paintjob on the 9.8 SRAM RED build:

Colnago C64 Disc with the internal routing in the stem and fork (I think it's being released this fall) is also an option.

Two more options are the BMC Roadmachine RM01 and Giant Defy 2019

With those tube shapes, the new Izalco Max probably won’t be that light. Guessing it’ll be heavier than the Tarmac SL6 Disc and Teammachine SLR01 Disc

The prices are available online here: http://www.velomenal.ch/__/frontend/han ... 9.2018.pdf
And the weighs: https://www.focusitaliagroup.it/uploads ... -Pesi1.pdf
The weights for the Izalco Max are overlaid in the latter pdf - you can extract them by selecting the whole document and pasting it in a text editor:

Code: Select all

IZALCO MAX DISC 9.9 7,50 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 9.8 7,40 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 9.7 7,75 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 8.9 7,90 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 8.8 8,10 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 8.7 7,95 kg
IZALCO MAX DI2 FS 1,35 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 9 FS 2,10 kg
IZALCO MAX DISC 8 FS 1,95 kg
IZALCO RACE DISC 9.9 8,70 kg
IZALCO RACE 9.9 7,85 kg
IZALCO RACE 9.8 7,75 kg
IZALCO RACE 9.7 7,95 kg
IZALCO RACE 6.9 8,95 kg
If this is indeed true, it seems that there will be two variants of the frame with the lower grade being quite hefty.
