Ti Frames that work with OD2 forks

Hi Weenies,

Does anyone know of any Ti frame builders that make head tubes that will work with Giant/Canyon style OD2 (1 1/4 to 1 1/2 ) forks?

Seven does an oversized 44mm head tube, but according to their website it only supports: 1 1/8”, 1 1/8” to 1 1/4”, and 1 1/8” to 1 1/2” steerer tubes.

I doubt there are any. Builders in metal will be limited to what is available off the shelf. The likes of Canyon & Giant have sufficient need that they can justify the cost, not to mention the fact that they are using carbon which is easier to adapt to their standard.

Why do you want it anyway?

Giant OD2 is a bit odd.

Ti frames , like the Seven you mentioned, are easily found with a 44mm headtube, which is simply ZeroStack or Semi-Integrated depending on which manufacturer you're looking at, so if you can get an upper ZeroStack cup that'll fit the 1 1/4, it'll work.

44mm head tube will even fit 1.5" straight steerer if you want, like a Lefty.

But getting a Ti frame and putting a Canyon fork on it is at least strange and unusual.

Why? It has no branding at all, it's 295g and is both very stiff and comfortable. It's off an AL SLX ultimate.

That is only half the solution. The Canyon fork robertbb has is tapered from 1-1/2" at the fork crown to a 1-1/4" steerer tube. At least I haven't seen any EC44/33 upper headset cups from any manufacturer. Possibly one could use a lower cup along with the compression ring and top cap from a Canyon/Acros original headset…?

Should work. Increase in stack height due to external upper cup, but that's probably unavoidable with a 44mm headtube. My lower is 1.5 and requires an external cup on my Ti frame with 44mm headtube.
