Skewer Question.

Why do some come with springs and others not? Are they needed at all?

The springs are a nice way to center the hub on the skewer...making it easier to drop the fork in.

Thanks. This place is making me so upgrades on an almost weekly basis. Tunes are going the way on Lightweights and the LW skewer's are going on Rovals.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 12:12 amThe springs are a nice way to center the hub on the skewer...making it easier to drop the fork in.

With my heavier skewers the springs make it easier to align the wheels. With my KCNC skewers, the springs actually make it harder to get things straight. I took them off that set of skewers. Now I don’t use the springs any more on any of my bikes. And I have had zero issues.
And hey it’s like a 2 gram savings.
