Dear friends,
I came across the below frame and was wondering which year it's from and is it worth a ww build. Does someone know the weight?
Thanks all in advance!! ☺

If you search 'CAAD 9' on this site you should find the frame weight and a few builds

Is it worth a WW build?....depends how low you want to go

6.0 to 6.5kg seems easily achievable from looking at the site

They are great biked if not a pure WW bike. I raced one for two years and kept the frame even though it has been sitting unbuilt for a while. Too good to get rid of and the last of their US made bikes.

I’m still running my CAAD5 7UP Team frame (2003?). 16.5lbs as seen here without serious focus on being WW... Looked into the year built, its a 2002 http://autobus.cyclingnews.com/tech/200 ... /7up.shtml
I bought it new as a frame as I was a team member of the amateur division of 7UP Nutrafig.

Keep in mind that older frames have limited tire clearance (e.g. 25mm tires may rub between chainstays).

That’s a 2010 with bb30. Also I have Caad 7,8 and 9. All of those take 25mm tires no issue. All are 13lbs built. Give or take. Great bikes.

CAAD 7 and 9 can easily fit 28 and 30mm tires. The only way a 25mm tire would rub the chainstays is if you had NO bearings at all and the hub shell just wobbled side to side, left and right, up and down, on the axle. I own a CAAD 7 and 9. Aluminum frames from long ago. British threaded bottom brackets. I have Continental Grand Prix Four Seasons 28 on the back of the CAAD9. And 23-25-28 Michelin, Vittoria, Specialized tires in the other spots. Can't read the labels anymore to see what the official sizes are.

That’s good know because this is not the case with older SuperSix frame.

Just a POI, I can fit 25's in my first gen. supersix, I think it's the 2nd and 3rd gen. ones that have issues.

I've got an '09 CAAD9 with a standard bb. I have Farsport rims that measure out at close to 29mm wide with 25mm gps4000's that measure out at just under 29mm. No problem at all. At least with the frame. I had to find other brakes (Tririg) that would comfortably fit.

25mm is bare minimum these days. My point is - don't invest into a frame that can't clear at least 28mm tire.

My CAAD9 ran 25s on wide rims (Belgiums) with no problem. I’m sure they measured our larger.

Maybe not WW build but that will be an awesome, racy bike. Great frame.
