Due to a chain-set change I need to remove about 2 links out of my Campy 11-speed chain. It was installed with the UT-CN300 tool which I have, with the CN-RE500 pin that came with the chain. I know not to break it at the original pin (has batch number on chain), but can I simply break at another location, shorten and rejoin with a new CN-RE500 pin from the small chain-ring side?

And I imagine that would be the last time to cut the chain.

Yes, , you can do that, just opposite the pin. campa say no more than three pins per chain iirc.

I'd use any chain tool that can break a 11-speed chain, shorten, and put together with a KMC 11-speed quick link. Done ...
