Hi -- Has anyone heard any rumors or speculations on the next-gen Canyon Aeroad? Looking at the current Aeroad (both rim and disc variants) the "Canyon" logo is on the bottom half of the toptube (like the older, Speedmax CF) rather than the top half (like the newer, Speedmax SLX, which I prefer). Any rumors on if the paint design will change, and/or if they'll offer any additional colors? The all-black "stealth" thing is getting to be a bit unoriginal in my opinion.

Canyon's new bikes are typically seen ridden by pro's in races before they're officially unveiled. Considering we haven't seen anything yet that I know of, I definitely wouldn't expect anything until maybe early next season with an announcement timed to the Giro or Tour.

I imagine the last couple years Canyon's road engineers have been focussed on getting disc versions of all models ready, then the Inflite CF SLX in order to sponsor Mathieu van der Poel's team, then finally the new Grail series gravel bikes… Hopefully they can get back to working on a brand new Aeroad and Speedmax now!

So I just took delivery of one about two months ago and looked into this very question wanting to avoid buying only to find a new version weeks or months away. In speaking with the folks at Canyon (understanding there may be ulterior motives of course), there were no immediate plans for a new Aeoroad. In fact, they said late next year at the earliest. They DID say that new colors may be available by the end of this year and hinted at something blue. I assume that may be a nod towards the Moviestar Team colors, but who knows. This I know: I ended up going for the Red version and couldn't be happier on two counts. First, it looks even better in person. Way better. Secondly, it rides AWESOME. I can't imagine how a new version would improve on this in an appreciable way other than being the "new thing" or perhaps to include an integrated cockpit. Either way I am SUPER happy with the Etap version I have. An as a footnote, the idea of an integrated cockpit made me pull the trigger now. I work on my own bikes and while they look neat, we all know at the cost that comes with

I’ve been holding off upgrading (sidegrading?) from rim to disc Ultimate because of Canyon’s boring colors. There’s only black, silver, and blue. Extremely meh.

C’mon Canyon good looks is free speed and costs way less than aero r&d.

The rumour is there will be a cheaper SL version in October/November, alongside the usual new combination of equipment and possibly colors. Some sizes are just listed as out of stock "permanently" now, and upon request they say they won't give new estimates until the 2019 combos are revealed.

The only aero bike announcement that will buck the trend of a mid-summer announcement this year is the Cervelo S5, and I honestly don’t know why. Perhaps they just got behind on their development cycle / final testing. A similar thing happened with the Tarmac SL6 Disc...it was shown off during the TdF and then disappeared for nearly a year.

Unlike the S5 rumors (its been seen by a few,) the next Canyon Aeroad has not been seen by anyone. I would not bank on an announcement until next July, and availability will be typical of Canyon...quite constrained for several months.

Agreed. I just managed to snag a used Ultimate CF SLX Disc frameset for €1500 and while the gran turismo blue does look better in person it is still pretty boring. As I have no warranties to worry about it will definitely be getting a snazzier repaint before assembly!

Maybe Cervelo wanna prepare a white paper of sort to win the most-aero road bike game, which requires wind tunnel study of the newest bikes. They will setup their own rules of testing and shows that S5 is the fastest. That's why they need to be the last to show up. Just my wild guess...

Probably more than a hint of truth in that

I think they just got behind on their planned development / delivery schedule. It’s possible they need to stockpile certain parts like the new bar/stem or fork...or found a fault in a component which necessitate a redesign.

What I understood it wasn’t in the pipeline due other projects and UCI rules.
For instance Canyon doesn’t want to do integration like trek/canondale due maintenance problems.

Oh and I don’t have the schedule. Iirc they do sale on end of november/beginning of january so I would think after that?

I was talking about the Cervelo and why it's randomly being released in the northern hemisphere's fall.

Hi -- Has anyone heard any rumors
It will be made in China by the standard “cookie cutter” process. Nothing to get excited about. Lol.
