Skip the alanera bar stem and you can apply the savings elsewhere.

AFAIK, the hidden can be done on the updates disc frames with colnago bar and stem

Potenza with Zondas and you’re sorted. Stretch/save in cockpit a bit and you can make it to Shamals

Hello,

New member on here (and new to Colnago) looking to build up a C64.

Question, what would a low budget build be and what would be the components to pick?

I can see from various sources a C64 disc can be had for c£3.5k
or there are still a few C60 rim brake options for c£2.6k

Thanks

May I ask the source for the Colnago C64 frameset at £3.5k as I too am UK based and cannot find it under £4.5k for disc or £4k for rim.
Dig a bit deeper and you will find £2.8k for rim and £3.0k for disc ...

I'd say it depends on the colour schemes but if on a budget get a C60 and then you can get some nicer wheels with the savings.

Potenza is a bargain. I have been racing on Scirocco wheels, which are heavier than Zondas but you can’t beat $250 www.probikekit.com/bicycle-wheels/campa ... 79772.html
Racing is a three-dimensional high-speed chess game, involving hundreds of pieces on the board.

Complete factory built bike is an option too , maybe not your ideal spec but definitely better price to get complete bike

You bought the wrong frame for a budget build. Take longer over it and do it right although there's nothing wrong with 105, it just seems a bit too sensible for this frame.

Kind of like buying a Mercedes with none of the options ticked just for the badge

It sort of depends on how long he wants to keep the frame. A C64 would have a long life I think. So maybe he wants to build the frame up now with R7000 components basic wheelset and then in 3-5 years swap that out for for the latest Di2 and Boras or whatever and go for another 5 years. It’s nice to refresh like that if you’re going to keep it for 10 years.

Even with 105 or Potenza, it is still a C64.

Have you ever seen a baseline Rolls or Benz(they're both ugly)?
2015 Pinarello F8: 13.13lbs/5.915kg(w/Roval 64's). Sold.
2016 Rca: 11.07lbs/5.048kg.
2015 Rca. 11.15 lbs(w/Roval CLX 32's)
2015 Rca/NOS(sold).
2018 S-Works SL6 Ultralight 12.03lbs(w/Roval CLX 50's)

Are you saying a C64 will be ugly with Potenza or 105?

Personally, I don't think a car is the right anology. A C64 will still perform well with a low end group. A strong rider on such a bike will still drop weaker riders on $10K bikes. Some extra grams from a lower group won't make a huge difference to most riders.

I won't skimp and put a $100 wheelset on the bike but personally I'd be pretty happy with a C64, Potenza and some Zonda wheels.

Yeah I lean towards the C60 rim brake options for c£2.6k
with Potenza & Zonda's too.

Super sensible yet super functional & keeping it Italian.

Nothing to do with ugly or whatever, but the C64 is a bells & whistles frame so putting workaday components on it seems a shame. I suppose a better analogy is to spend £4000 on a bespoke suit but wear it with a pair of converse
