Anyone tried using Sram Red eTap HydroHC disc brake calipers with older generation HydroR mechanical shifters?

Reason I ask is that I currently have a bike fitted with Red 22 and hydraulic rim brakes which eventually will be moved over to a new disc brake frameset. The newer eTap HydroHC calipers are lighter, nicer looking and seem to have a better bleed port design than older HydroR calipers. Occassionally loose calipers show up on eBay at attractive prices and while I am in no hurry to buy I'd like to snag a set when an opportunity appears.

The one potential problem I can see is with regards to the hydraulic hose and banjo fitting. With eTap the hose is shortened at the shifter end and has a permanent banjo at the caliper end, while Sram's older disc brakes are the other way around. Is the HydroR flat mount banjo fitting compatible with HydroHC calipers…?
