Hello everybody,

After months of lurking I'm finally making a topic. I am looking to upgrade from my BMC TeamMachine SLR03 (8 kg) to something ideally below 6.8 kg. I'm interested in getting a Giant as they receive good reviews and I have local Giant bike shop (I've heard Giant customer service is generally pretty good too). To add to the mix I'm looking to get one second hand and Giants seem to have a fast turnover on eBay etc. I'm currently torn between getting a TCR Advanced Pro or a TCR Advanced SL. Has anybody got any experiences/weights they would like to share comparing the two e.g. how much adjustability can you get form the ISP and what is the weight difference between the two frames if you include the seatpost of the Pro and the Seatmast of the SL?

Thanks in advance(d) :D,

Thanks for the reply,

Have already scoped this post but annoying no-one (including Giant.jp) Say whether that frame weight included the seat mast? Also keen to find out how much the TCR Pro seatpost itself weighs too.

From what I can gather:

'18 TCR SL weight, including ISP but not the hardware that attaches to saddle (est. 110gr): Medium frame = 900g & fork = 300g
'18 TCR Pro weight, not including seatpost: Medium frame = 910g & fork = 340g

Aero seatposts tend to be in the 230gr range so let's say that's true of the TCR Pro, this brings the frame and seatpost to 1140 vs 1010 with the SL.

I think the 2018 TCR Pro Team model is incredible value at $3315 USD.

I've been thinking about getting a TCR as well. Will the Advanced Pro 1 Disc be available in the US anytime soon?

6.28 TCR SL here https://weightweenies.starbike.com/foru ... 3&t=150524

I have a 2016 SL size M and it's 6.8kg with Garmin on ( 100gr) and SRAM force power2max ( >900gr).

However, the integrated seatpost is a pain to deal with. Also, the steerer tube is 1-1/4 so it's difficult to find stems.

If you know your measurements very well, then get one. If you don't know them, then just know it is a very difficult bike to fiddle with.

On the plus side you can get a 2016 Sl frame for $1000. Any other major brand is at least 50% more.

Yes u need to know your saddle height but I don't find the ISP a deal breaker unless u must use some traveling case that requires seat post to be removed.

The frame is the same from what I can tell. The TCR SL is a higher spec of carbon from the Advanced/Pro

I'm planning to get the Advanced Pro Team but it seem like everywhere is sold out in Size Small. That frame is definitely the BEST bang for buck at only $3315 for a full bike.

Correct. As far as I know...

Advanced - Advanced Carbon frame/fork, alloy steerer
Advanced Pro - Advanced Carbon frame/fork, carbon steerer
SL - SL Carbon frame/fork, carbon steerer
Advanced - Advanced Carbon frame - lower grade carbon, alu dropouts (frame and fork), alu bb, no ISP
- hybrid fork with alu 1.1/8 steerer
Advanced Pro - same frame as Advanced
- Full carbon Overdrive 2 fork with alu dropouts
Advanced SL - Higher grade carbon fiber, carbon dropouts (frame and fork), carbon BB, ISP
- Full Carbon Overdrive 2 fork with carbon dropouts and higher grade carbon

If i recall it right my 17 ADV SL came in at 873gr (uncut ISP) for a Medium size and fork was close to 300gr uncut.
