I’m pretty anal with my stuff in regards to scuffs and chips. So on all y cranks I’ve always put gorilla tape on the arms to prevent scuffs and chips

Is it just me or the SRM Origin cover and Dura-Ace chain ring doesn't quite match up?

I agree. I prefer my setup with Carbon Ti rings. Shifting is just as good as the DA rings imo, they're marginally lighter, and look killer on there. You need to swap the cover to a flat one though to be able to fit them, vs the one that comes with the DA rings. The little plastic nubs that make it seamless to the DA rings get in the way of installation. Plus it's a cleaner look anyway.

Nice setup there! I agree that the flat one looks cleaner. I am considering the SRM Origin with the Absolute Black Oval chainring.

Thanks! Oh man, Absolute Black chainrings are crazy looking. That's going to be really cool.

I don't know the weight difference but Carbon Ti also makes non-round rings that might be worth looking into. But I think they're closer to the osymetric shape than a pure oval. Definitely on the pricier end though.

Mine came in at 117g for 4 bolt, round 50/34 rings

Total weight of the SRM origin built up with those rings is 625g, 30mm spindle

So I finally received my THM 165mm arms from SRM and couple things I’m not happy with:

1. It looks like they took a regular length arm, drilled where the pedal axle thread would be and grafted it in. It took 5months plus and was told by SRM that THM made the 165mm arms to order. I would’ve thought for that amount of time they would’ve made the arms to length for 165mm.
2. The quality of the grafting is crap and not what I would’ve expected from THM. If you look at the second pic you can see what looks like a crack or incomplete carbon grafting right where the pedal threads in. What worries me is will it hold up under load, especially sprinting - the thought of it snapping makes me shudder.

I paid $950USD (approx $1500CAD incl tax/shipping) and really IMO for that kind of money I would’ve expected a lot more. I emailed the SRM rep but he’s at Sea Otter till Wednesday. Thoughts? Am I crazy?

That looks like complete garbage and I would not accept that!

I think thm don’t have a mold shorter than 170mm cranks thus the grafting.

No, you're not crazy! Buying a THM you probably expect top notch beauty. Perhaps they should have told you that they're not making 165 cranks the way you thought!
I can also agree that by looks along, this looks like something that have been repaired, but not a visually nice one.
Strangely, Ax lightness always view a repair. If not nicely done, they replace it with a new.

Yeah, not too well finished for new product and agree, that just drilling out the holes a bit shorter but in the same crank is a bit lame, but certainly saves the cost of a separate mold.
There was someone on this forum who basically did a home repair on a crank where the pedal insert had come completely loose. Seems his repair looked similar to this in the end.

175mm Quarq DZero BB30 with 50/34 Carbo-rings = 652.9g

So you're paying an extra £1,000-ish for 27g odd... Ouch.

For the Carbon-Ti rings? Nah, like $370 US for the pair
