Etap levers w/Record 10 Calipers?
Moderator: robbosmans
If you pair Etap levers with the brakes from a Record 10spd group will the levers pull too much cable and need a lot of lever effort for powerful braking? I have a bike with medium pull levers (Shimano 2nd gen 10spd) and short pull calipers (Shimano 1st gen 10spd) and while they have a snappy feel and great pad/rim clearance, they require a very firm squeeze to get close to lockup. The rider of this potential Etap/Record bike is older and might not have the hand power for such a setup.

They may work but you gave no means of getting the wheel in or out without resorting to undoing the cables.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Campy quick release system. I think he's gonna stick with his Record shifters anyway since it looks like his derailleur will be able to handle the Centaur 12-30t cassette and his motivation for changing was to get lower gears than his current 39/53, 11-25.
