hi there.

I need put tyres on my 26" rims to make them a bit faster for the road.

I notice two similar tread tyres by schwalbe that might work.
However the weight difference is quite dramatic.

(2 x 60g)120 grams heavier for the PRO ONE..

I wonder which would be a better tyre for overall riding?

Thanks for any help, here are some specs and pics

-------------------------------------- >

Schwalbe one = 26 x 1.0 (inch) weight 215g resistance slightly higher

schwalbe 'pro' one = 26 x 1.1 (inch) weight 275g resistance slightly lower

The site is not clear by how much the resistance is relative to each tyre.

Look at the psi ratings for the tires.. 85-130 vs 55-95. That should tell the story of best overall ride quality. Lower psi means softer ride.

Pro One is tubeless... can be a challenge to mount ... not really difficult using a tire lever. Can be run w tubes.. which negates it's ride quality advantage.

Then goes to your weight and rim style.. a lighter rider could do 80's in the One on the rear and a mite less psi front. A reminder running rubber near low threshold means close monitoring of psi prior to the ride.

thanks

i weigh about 70kg? 11 stone.

Yes , I only just noticed the PRO ONE is tubeless. I could not find where it said tubes were o.k.

I have always used innertubes. so im kind of leaning toward the normal ONE version at the moment.
but i would like a lower pressure tyre.

i found a good innertube, a Continental Race Supersonic 26 Inner Tube 650x18/25 SV36mm at around 45g.

maybe i should mention i am using mavic 26" xc717 disc rims, they claim to be able to use 1" tyres as a minimum and 131 psi max

Carrying a tube is standard for many running tubeless... no issue using tubes w tubeless. Roadside flats are difficult w the Pro One ..not your choice running tubes.

I'd look for some feedbacks on the inner tube choice.

Hi yes, Schwalbe have said that both tyres can use inner tubes.

still a tricky choice, 120 grams is allot. : /

Get the biggest tyre you can.
Will help with the ratio problem you have.

hi
I am able to upgrade my gears from 44t up to 48t for the outer chain ring so that should help with the more lower profile.

i was thinking to get a pro one for the rear and a standard One for the front.
but someone said using a tube in a Pro tubless tyre would not be so good for the ride.

So I think i may as well go for 2 x standard Schwalbe One's and upgrade my gears to 48/36/26.

unless anyone thinks a Pro tyre with an inner tube would be better than a standard Scwalbe One?
