New Emonda ALR? Discs?
Moderator: robbosmans
Frame materials have some differences yes
But for myself if setup is tuned a bit then it is not much of an issue
At the end of the day my times are similar on all bikes
Comfort is close on all & it is definitely not about price IMHO
I am maybe easy to please

So I bought one of these... https://imgur.com/mJ4XpwJ.jpg . Rides great with an offset post, carbon bars, and 85psi in the tires. It's not a magic carpet ride, but it feels better than my CX bike on the same tires and a comfy seat post.jfranci3 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 27, 2018 3:59 pmSaw one review where it rides well another where someone actually dinged it for riding poorly on 28c tires @ 70psi (??) https://cyclingtips.com/2018/07/2019-tr ... lr-review/ . How often does a bike reviewer actually ding a frameset for something aside from a lack of a feature? James Huang doesn't usually just retype the press release and isn't an idiot, so this is puzzling.
It had to have been an oversized frame or stiff seatpost / stem / bars thing. I had problems with my stock Trek carbon wrapped AL seat post and AL bars, it was brutal with road tires on my Crockett CX bike, even with lot of pole exposed.
They have been selling the new purple rim direct mount brake version Emonda ALR in Thailand for 21,500 THB now which is about $650 USD
not too bad. I'm going to take a look when we visit next month at that & also the Ridley Helium SLA about the same price there.

would be interesting what price point they come in at. The SL Disc is, frankly, a bit porky at the moment for a "lightweight" bikeTobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Mon Jul 23, 2018 9:38 pmMy guess is both a revised Emonda SL and Madone SL will be introduced with OCLV 600 carbon next year.
Where does that leave the SLR which is also 600 carbon?jeffy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 12:52 pmwould be interesting what price point they come in at. Both the Madone SLR and Emonda SLR use OCLV 700, as well as the Pro Endurance fit Domane SLR.
Ah right, before that only the H1 was available in 700 oclv on the Madone.
is this at probike?flying wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 3:31 amThey have been selling the new purple rim direct mount brake version Emonda ALR in Thailand for 21,500 THB now which is about $650 USD

I remember a couple of years ago Jacky bike in Chiang Mai had the ALR frameset for 22,500 iirc.
Have said this before, Trek's are made by Quest - same factory as Canyon. If you look at Canyon's line-up you have:hlvd wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 5:56 pmTobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 5:39 pm

Ultimate SL (weight is equivalent to Trek 500 oclv carbon frame)
Ultimate SLX (no current Trek equivalent carbon frame)
Ultimate SLX Evo (weight is equivalent to Trek 700 oclv carbon frame)
So an oclv 600 carbon frame does make sense to split the difference between the two.
