Why is the ALR so heavy? rim brake model 56cm 1710gr/1.71kg

Many good alum frames at 1090 with a 400 fork these days

It doesn't indicate what was included in the weight, so take it with a grain of salt. Was the claim or headset included? What about the hanger? There are just too many open questions on that issue.

From the website: "Bike and frame weights are based off Trek pre-production painted frames at time of publication. Weights may vary in final production."

Heheh so that could be better or worse :noidea:
Not a great way to sell frames to other than fan boy types that were going to buy a Trek either way

The rest want specs
The accurate specs others like Bowman, Fuji etc are happy to give

In any case not critical just as I said surprising to be so far off todays norm

Yeah, it could be. I'd wait for people to get their hands on them to find out what the real weight is. As it is, based on the website information, the new frame is 70g lighter than the 2017 frameset (1.71kg vs. 1.78kg), and IRL, the bikes are coming up just a little heavier than a comparable Emonda SL.

Actually looking at their description & pictures it does seem likely they are including the headset so that could be 60-90 gr

I do like their hydroforming/welds
Some companies like Canyon really need help in that department

Trek is VERY thorough when it comes to calculating weights. That 1710g includes frame, fork, "frame bits," hanger, BB bearings, headset, DuoTrap cover, cage bolts, etc.

From the bike rollout jam thread... weights were quoted as follows.

ALR frame weights 1112g
ALR Disc frame weight 1131g

Not sure where the got those weights from... but they are very specific, so I assume accurate. I asked what size for, no response yet.

Trek weights are always for 56cm frames.
