Anyone seen this bike for real at Eurobike?
I am estranged there is so little info of it, so far!
I must admit the whole appearance of the bike made my pants feel alot tighter....

The official lunching will be later this year as I have learnt hence so little info. They are still refining some details mostly about the stem/headset/cable routing.I am also very interested in this frame but I guess we have to wait a little bit longer. The general concept I think is more of an all around/aerodynamic frame than of an aerodynamic frame at all costs.

That rim brake version looks really promising.
795 Blade rear brake solution is super neat and different kind of than any other 2018/2019 rim brake bike we have seen,
thumbs up to Look development dep

My first thought was that somebody asked the unpleasant question (which everyone was wondering about) in the last design meeting before prototyping. "Oh right, the rear brake of the rim brake model..."

Why spoil the beautiful lines of the seatstays and not put it underneath the bottom bracket? That would have been right up Look's alley (which is called Form-before-function, if I remember correctly). I bet there would be less added weight and a better performing seat tube.

Because the brakes on the chainstays simply don't work. That's why most major manufacturers have moved away from this design(Scott Foil I think is an exception). As for the weird design of the new Look, mechanically it makes sense. The seatstays are designed to flex independently to contribute to the comfort of the bike,so bridging them through a brake body will neutralise that effect. If you look closely, you will also notice that the seatstays are "avoiding"the seatube. That, in theory at least, will enhence the comfort. All remains to be seen,of course, but it is a promising design.

I saw it at eurobike. Forget the rear brake the real changes are to the head tube cable routing and the bb65/zed3 is gone as look have had too many warranties. The bike I saw is bb86. They are keeping zed2 as that does not go wrong.
The aero stem has changed.

When I saw it I though I did think it almost a normal bike now so you might as well buy the 785. Then I saw the 785disc and thought doh, I bought the wrong bike. I think I saw a 795 disc too another damm moment.

I don't know if Blade will carry same geometry as 695/795 and 785!?
(Probably)
For me these are a bit too low.
I'd rather pick the later Time bikes if i were in for such low frames.
Anyway, i am completely sold on the "Looks" of Blade.

Unrelated to the topic of this thread, the Look 795 Blade aero all round bike. But this jumped out at me from the story posted above. "The Look 785 Huez RS Disc... The result is a claimed 790g frame (Small) and 280g full carbon fork, among the lightest of disc brake bikes on the market,"

How the HE-- does a DISC brake fork get to be 280 grams??? Most compainies run around claiming the Nobel prize if they manage to get their lightest rim brake fork down to 380 grams. But Look is claiming 280 grams for their Disc brake fork!

Yeah, that’s pretty off the charts light for any fork, let alone one that needs to withstand the disc brake forces. Wonder how harsh it is. Maybe it’s a typo?

Those weights are indeed from the 785 RS Rim.

The actual claimed weights for the frame and fork are 820g and 420g, respectively. Even as a disc brake bike, not that light.

https://www.lookcycle.com/en/velo/785-huez-rs-disc/
FORK 420g, 100% CARBON FORK, MONOBLOC EXTRA LIGHT
WEIGHT 820g (+/- 5 % in S size RS version with BB 65 for ZED 2 crankset)

OK. 820 frame and 420 fork for the 785RS disc brake bicycle. 790 frame and 280 fork for the 785RS rim brake bicycle. Yeah, 420 for a disc fork isn't anything to brag too much about.

Lovely bike, but i noted geometry was as i expected, low.
Why are there no "lookers" for us who need higher headtubes :-(

Below are the equivalent reach/stack values for a bunch of “54cm” race bikes. I used 54cm because that is my preferred size. The order remains mostly intact for other sizes.

Code: Select all

55.8cm stack, 38.5cm reach - Look 795/785
55.5cm stack, 38.1cm reach - Trek Emonda SLR H2

55.1cm stack, 38.7cm reach - Cannondale SuperSix Evo
55.0cm stack, 38.6cm reach - BMC Teammachine SLR01
55.0cm stack, 38.6cm reach - Pinarello Dogma F10
54.8cm stack, 38.9cm reach - Scott Addict SL
54.8cm stack, 38.3cm reach - Lapierre Xelius SL
54.8cm stack, 38.0cm reach - Cervélo R5
54.7cm stack, 38.4cm reach - (55cm trad.) Colnago C60
54.6cm stack, 38.5cm reach - Canyon Ultimate CF SLX
54.5cm stack, 38.8cm reach - (55cm) Bianchi Specialissima
54.5cm stack, 38.3cm reach - Giant TCR Advanced SL
54.4cm stack, 38.4cm reach - S-Works Tarmac
54.3cm stack, 38.8cm reach - (52cm) Merida Scultura
54.2cm stack, 38.4cm reach - Ridley Helium SLX
54.2cm stack, 38.4cm reach - Factor O2

52.6cm stack, 39.0cm reach - Trek Emonda SLR H1

52.0cm stack, 39.0cm reach - Argon 18 Gallium Pro

As you can see, Look’s race geometry is about tied with Trek’s H2 fit for the least aggressive combination of reach/stack. If you’re complaining about the Looks not being tall enough, then I don’t really know what you’re expecting... accept that you should be looking at endurance bikes.

I don't expect anything than what i mentioned, it's probably too low.

Trek H2 and old Cervelo size 56.
About 387mm reach, 577-580mm stack.
If Endurance, that's fine to.
Look is 396mm reach, 578mm stack for large
386mm reach, 553mm stack for medium.
If i would size down, setback wouldn't be sufficient.
BTW, i hope seat mast tube geo is wrong at the geo shart i look at.
It says 75.8 degree!!
Best geo (for me) with a non custom bike would be Canyon Endurance and Ax Race.
