In search of sub 13 pounds worth it?

Hi,
I've got my build together but it's about 13.55 pounds
I figured to shed the 0.55 pounds (250g) I would have to consider the pedals, cranks, cassette, and brakes (listed in order of price exorbitance).
Pedals: R540 -> Dura Ace
Cranks: Red 22 BB30 -> ???
Cassette: XG-1170 -> XG-1190
Brakes: Force -> ee brakes (sad wallet)
This would result in a good 300 grams savings for a net investment of $700 after selling the old parts
That's 2 and a third grams per dollar, is it worth it?

I tend not to look at it that way. If the bills are paid and I can afford it, then I just get it.

I've done it... now I'm looking to ride something else. I dont know what it would take to get to sub12, but I'm not going there regardless.... so my answer is I would pass on it. I'm back on my aero or aero disc want.

100% agree with that comment.
If you can afford it then why not, it makes us happy, so that's a good thing. Does it make us any faster, who knows, every time I ride my 11.5lb bike it puts a smile on my face.

I actaully did the reverse. I added weight by changing saddle and seatpost.
I decided the comfort and fit was my first prio instead of weight.

Light bikes.. cool if that is your thing. Yet a human rides the bike.. the bike should not ride one's body down.

I don't think the crank is a priority, as Red 22 should be pretty light (rings I'd maybe change if you're using the stock ones).
I agree about pedals and cassette. Both are upgrades regardless of weight.
You could even change the pedal spindles for a ti. I did this with some 2nd hand 6700c Ulegra pedals a few months after their release. Ended up only spending £85 in total for a weight of 218g. Not bad if you like Shimano pedals...
And yeh, light brakes are expensive. You could start out with a cheaper upgrade like KCNC brake shoes while you save for some bling.

Sub 12 pounds would be 1.5 pounds less. That’s brakes, cranks, shallow wheels, pedals, cassette, bolts, cables, end caps
I too have considered aero frames. The new ones look sick. I’d guess that in a racing environment the aero frame is probably more versatile over a light bike

Change the chainrings maybe but not the crankarms. You will not find a better weight per dollar than the cranks you've got now.
The cassette and brakes are good targets - lots of weight to drop and better braking to boot.
For sure, you aren't going to feel any difference in riding behavior due to that weight loss* but it's a run game!
*most recently confirmed this again to myself in going from a 5.9kg T2 to a 5.4kg Evo. The former almost 'felt' lighter on the road.

True but the hollowgram sisl2 are a good 120g less than red. Maybe if I upgrade my chainrings I’ll see weights match. What are some lightweight rings compatible to the hidden 5th bolt format of sram red?
