I'm looking to buy an Izalco Max frame to build up. For those with experience with this bike, what is the largest tire (tyre) you can fit? Will it clear a 28mm tire on wider (25mm+ rims) or is 25mm about the best I can hope for? Thanks.
My wife has an Izalco Max disc, not sure if this differs from the non disc much in regard to tyre clearance, I can fit a Roval CLX32 with a 28mm Sworks 2Bliss tyre in the frame but I'd not want to ride it far, I stick to 26mm max for this bike.

I don't know anyone on the Izalco Max rim version, but I do have 4 friends riding the Izalco Max Disc version, some with 28 tyres. Even on the disc version 28mm tyres are a "sometimes"
One friend has 28mm Conti GP4000II on DT Swiss RC38 Spline wheels. They are only 21mm wide rims, and the 28mm tyres fit. Another friend has a 2017 model Izalco Max Disc with wider Focus Concept DB (rebranded Fulcrum wheels) and the GP4000II in 28mm did NOT fit in the fork, but did fit in the chain stays, so he is running 25 on the front, and 28 on the rear.
I would expect the stock wheels are 23mm outer, 17C inner. GP4000 will measure 30.2mm on a 17C rim when new, and gain 1mm width over the first 100km of use. are large tyres than Vittoria and Schwalbe, so you MAY fit those on a 17C inner width rim.

Thanks for the info everyone. That helped quite a bit.
I have the rim braked version, with Campagnolo skeleton brakes. Running 24.2mm external rims, I 25 GP4000S2 fits with a few mm to spare. Honestly a 28mm might fit, but at best it would be too close for comfort, and certainly in anything wet would pick up tons of leaves, rub them against underside of calipers etc.

Hi - that is interesting. Can I ask what calipers you're using, whether you've used 28mm GP4000S2 nominal, and what the clearance is like on the specific tyres/calipers you've been using?

Have 2015 Izalco Team SL (I think predecessor, rim brakes obviously). Run 28mm no problem, full Record group.
Sorry for the slow reply, I have just gotten back from a holiday.
I am using DA 9000 calipers.
I have used 25mm Veloflex Masters on HED+ rims (these meaured 28mm bang on), 25mm GP4000 on HED+ (again 28mm measured), 28mm Clement LGG, Vittoria Corsa Graphene 28mm.
All of them without any rub front or rear. Clearance has not been an issue. I wouldn't go bigger than a measured 28mm however. I think a 28mm GP4000 on a wide rim would not work.
The frame is a 56 FWIW.
Any more experiences with folks running wide rims and the Izalco Max Disc?
I’ve got a 58cm Izalco Disc and 28mm tyres on 17mm internal width rims is not a problem.
Looking at buying some 21mm internal width rim wheels to run 25/28mm tyres and wondering if they’ll fit?

I’m on a 2015 izalco max with campy record brakes and campy boras with 25mm conti gp4000s2. I think that 28mm might be a problem. Yesterday, part of a 30km climb we rode had melting tarmac and small gravel chips. The gravel chips would stick to the tyre and then get wedged between the tyre and the brake calipers - this went on for about 15km - not fun!
I've got 28c Specialized S Works 2bliss on 21mm internal Light Bicycle rims on my izalco max disc. They measure just over 29mm and I would not go any wider than that.iamalex wrote:Any more experiences with folks running wide rims and the Izalco Max Disc?

I've also tried 25c GP4000s and Michelin Power competition on these rims. Both measured 28mm exactly and fitted fine.
28c GP4000s on a 20mm Roval rim measured 31mm and were too wide, rubbing on the front fork and rear stays.
Hope that helps
