Awesome. A new 1x road group after aqua blue has just bitterly complained about how shit they are and 3T as a result has released a 2x version of the strada. Ear to the ground rotor.

Actually the rotor groupset is on sale at merlin for 1500€, about the same as Ultegra Di2 for example (but excluding cranks).
Im pretty tempted as a) its spanish, b) dont kneed charging or adjusting and c) its different, but would really like to see/hear some examples of people using it before I take the leap.
I have demo’d it on two occasions. Once at NAHBS 2.5 years ago and once at Sea Otter last year. The hand feel of front shifting was really bad. It felt heavier than a typical Shimano mechanical set-up. By the time Sea Otter rolled around, the demo omitted the front derailleur entirely because they were more focused on showing off their Q-Rings and Torque360 pedaling analysis software. So clearly th y didn’t have the confidence in the front derailleur to shift Q-Rings properly in an expo situation.

This solves that problem by removing the condition entirely.

I suspect Aqua Blue's problems have a lot more to do with the specific bike and not 1x in general

Thats helpful but given I lived for 3 years with an early Sram Red front shifting, I may be able to live with that!

Discodan it was a chain drop i believe due to a clutch failure in the 1x rear derailleur. As normal road rds don't have clutches it seems 1x specific. This is also not their first drivetrain mechanical this season.

I have tested the Uno twice and both times the rear shifting felt vague and detached, not quite enough mechanical feedback. It was two different units.

Any different experiences ?

Nah, I think it was 1X, not the bike. It wasn't just about chain drops, the mechanics were having to swap chains every time they swapped a cassette and for racing it seems they have to do this swap pretty often.

The chain swaps are necessary because they change chainring sizes to suit stage profiles, not because of cassette swaps, which they also do. The longest possible chain for a ??x10t gear combo would work with whichever cassettes they have on hand. It’s when you change chainrings that chainwrap becomes an issue.

Running a double-edged chainkeeper defeats the purpose of the 1x setup...it’s supposed to provide aero gains by cleaning up the airflow around the seattube.

Question is how interesting Strada (Due or not) is to the public?
It seems the market is flooded with aero bikes
Still wonder how aero bikes would be if they're made completely off UCI rules

Thanks NiFTY ;-)

I counted the teeth in the new pictures (or at least attempted to) and for anyone that wants to compare gearing options the 10-36 appears to be:

10-11-12-13-14-15--17--19--21---24---27----31-----36

It is also noteworthy that despite all the stuff about 1x being the future, it is expected to be ~35g heavier than UNO 2x11.

Yup, but we’re talking about the bike industry.

They probably have a warehouse full of unsold Uno components, so this means they don't have to write any of the levers off. Heh heh heh...
I spoke to the Canadian distributor. They tried a few UNO groups, but decided not to import them. In theory the whole hydraulic thing is ok (he said), but very finicky to adjust. imagine all the retail store mechanics having to learn to adjust another type of system...
Also the brake parts are made by Magura, all parts are proprietary, so another reason not to go with all the hassle.

Louis :)
