Ok, so today was slam ‘annondale day.

Who is next? Specialized showing big weight savings compared to Venge Vias? That would be easy considering the weight of all the proprietary cr*p they had on it...

I just would like to see a truly light aero bike... sub-900g frame, rim brakes (on the seatstays, please), smart cable routing (cleaning up the front end looks cool, but probably not worth the trouble and weight penalty)...

If Canyon makes an Aeroad “EVO”, I would definitely get one. Fuji is also promising a revamped sub 900g Transonic with no proprietary parts, and good aero.

Guessing the new Timemachine is a brick as CW's entire article conveniently doesn't mention it.

Love the BMC storage box and cages. Really hope Cervelo pull off something similar with the next S5, but get the weight down to the disc brake Venge level, around 7.1kg. That would be dreamy.

Not gonna happen. As pointed out earlier, R5 Disc Etap weighs comfortably over 7.3kg. No way the new S5 is going to be lighter than that.

Yes good point that actually. Highly unlikely they'll cannibalise the R5. More's the pity. Conspiracy theorist in me reckons that's the same reason the new Venge didn't get 12r carbon. Weigh would have been too close for comfort to the SL6. They already look too similar from a market segmentation POV.

Interesting that the Venge, Cannondale and BMC bikes aren't fatter looking, compared to say the new Orbea Orca Aero. Thought the relaxed UCI rules would have let them get away with slightly fatter bikes this time round, but designers are playing it conservatively there. Saying that, the new Madone might be a bit fatter.

You’ve got to have something to release next year...no point in releasing the best product you can this year...

With everything going towards discs sooner or later - how much of an influence will that have on rim brake frames in terms of price?

The Orca Aero is heavy and an ass destroyer, so there is that.

Claimed 980g frame, 410g fork for the new TM. James Huang on CyclingTips liked the ride and the stem, but slated the cages and (proprietary) handlebar shape.

It'll be interesting to see how that relates to the new S5 - if it's a completely seperate Focus design, or if they port a lot of the DNA over.

So far they've continued to operate completely seperately (RAT axle aside) but it'd make sense for PON to leverage Cervelo's aero expertise and processes (if not actually copying the design) to give Focus a head start in what is a new area for them.
