Thanks for the update. Any idea if they'll have the new 105 on the ALR? I know Giant showed their new bikes with the new 105 but those have rim brakes, and so far true 105 disc is mia.robertbb wrote: ↑Fri Jul 20, 2018 6:55 amWell, I just popped into my local Trek dealer and have been informed that an Emonda ALR with Direct Mount brakes is going to drop in the next 10 days or so.
Other than DM brakes, he mentioned:
1) Internal cable routing
2) Welds that are even less visible
Excited about the DM brakes, nonplussed about internal routing, interested as to how they could improve those welds even more!

New Emonda ALR 5 disc with the new 105

Framesets are up on the Trek site, that purple looks nice in some of the promo shots. Purple seems to be rim brake only in full build, if you want the disc version you have to buy the frameset only maybe? At least that's what's listed below, but that's the Japanese market, may do it differently for U.S. market.

Damn that looks good. Trek is hitting it out of the park for MY2019.
Trek lists the 2019 rim brake ALR as weighing 1.71 kg / 3.76 lbs for a 56. Assuming that includes a 350g fork, that's still a porky frame weight at around ~1360g.
I would be very curious to know what a 2017/2018 ALR frame weighs... does anyone know?
Differences (other than internal routing) between the two that I can see is a far more shaped head tube and top tube on the newer model. Top tube is curiously remeniscent of the previos model Tarmac.

It’s reminiscent of the current Emonda SLR.
I see the front of the top tube is flattened, but I wonder if the back is concave like on the SLR.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2019 Teammachine but have a couple of questions i'm hoping you guys might know the answers to,
Specs are showing Wheels on the 2019 are the DT Swiss spline 1475 35 DISC rather than the 1400 the 2018 had,
Does anyone know the diffrence between these wheels, can't find anything on them,
Anyone know what the rough weight will be on the 2019 Teammachine SLR01 THREE DISC 56cm?
It is basicly the same as the 2018 Teammachine SLR01 ONE but with the Team red colour if that helps
Cheers

So less than 500g weight penalty over an Emonda SLR. The ALR is going to completely and utterly cannibalize Emonda SL sales...it looks way better too.
Aside from the alloy ultimate, I also have a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX (Canyon's flagship climber) which I weight at 782g in a size S. The ALR is only 330g more than that one...
One is my fair weather and climbing bike, the other gets used in the wet and on the trainer.
I'm now seriously considering selling both my Canyons and consolidating on an ALR...

Selling an Ultimate SLX for an ALR makes zero sense.
