Could somebody (with real inside info) comment on the idea someone posted previously that "big" brands are holding back in the aero development meaning they need "new features/designs" to come out every year to sell more bikes? That in fact they could make a significantly more aero bike already (they have the knowledge), but that would not be good for long term business? Or is this not happening and everyone is pushing hard and releasing everything the R&D departments come up? Just curious on how it works regarding the business side of the things and also wondering why some aero bikes look much more "engineered" than others...
I was at an event where someone asked Eric Yu basically this exact question. His response was effectively that this latest design is best they can do given current materials science, manufacturing processes and UCI rules. So if any of those changes, next iteration changes.

By comparing the lines and proportions of the end products from Specialized, BMC, Cannondale, Wilier and Ridley it’s possible to see (in my opinion) that the manufacturers have indeed found the ”formula” of an aero bike. Small details always differ, of course, but the optimal rule-abiding result, which is possible to manufacture with current technology, has been formed. Only Trek has dared to go the other way.

It is hard to judge by just one picture, but I am betting it is going to be one of the lightest.

Also hoping for a rim brake version (read somewhere it is in UCI list)

Did anyone make a poll for 2019 aero winner? Ridley, spec, and ‘dale all look pretty slick.

Deleted, Nefarious86.

Stop posting adds, they provided no real information outside what's already posted in this thread.

Because it looks like you’re posting ads would be my guess.

Well, I just popped into my local Trek dealer and have been informed that an Emonda ALR with Direct Mount brakes is going to drop in the next 10 days or so.

Other than DM brakes, he mentioned:
1) Internal cable routing
2) Welds that are even less visible

Excited about the DM brakes, nonplussed about internal routing, interested as to how they could improve those welds even more!
