I live in china and ride (among other) a fake cervelo s5. It's probably softer than the original because I can sense the bb shell flexing a little but other than that it's brilliant. I've raced on it and I'm very happy with the result.

I realize it wasn't the point of the previous poster to say fake equals death but I just want to add that if you are light and don't ride like a mad man I think you can get away with a lot of dodgy frames and wonded what the fuss is about.

Is it a good idea for a low experience buyer to rush and buy a noname/fake frame. Most probably not. Just go with the trusted suppliers, verify your weight is supported and enjoy. Ride quality will depend on how well the frame was designed and built. It will become apparent after you start riding for 2/3/4/5 hours continuously.

I even prefer to buy 2nd hand rather than new because I like for someone else to do the test of time, preferably heavier than me.
I just like cipolini frames..so you can understand what i am looking for...thanks for the info and reply. I am 76kg and they told me they did tests on the frame with 200kg. Is that true? I dont know.. I ordered the frame(and wheels from farsport). I feel like i have gambled 1200euros in a casino..now lets wait and see what the outcome will be..I will post when i get them if you guys are interested

You will be fine.

Farsports is a highly reputed seller. Maybe use the savings to take out dental insurance if you're so concerned.

They are all 'good' sellers, but for guaranty you must be next door.!

I am not so sure. Sometimes they are good at rectifying 'warranty' type issues. Personally I have never had an issue with anything purchased online.

My wheels are from Farsports. People warned me off and said i was crazy.. but i've put 5000km into them so far, hit a couple of really bad potholes, hard, and they are holding up fine. I'm now looking at buying some lighter carbon wheels from china for climbing.. and yeah, maybe a frameset.. maybe.. carbon disc brake wheels definitely mroe reliable from all accounts/ common sense though (legit and copy!)

i think there's alot of 'ifs' about the Chinese knockoffs.

alot depends on your weight and where you live. i'm on the northeast region. bad roads chewed up by winter storms and salt. i cracked a Farsports wheelset. they replaced it and i sold them a bit afterwards...since the cracked rim...i was always more worried about whether or not i will be cracking a rim due to potholes than actually riding the bike. which was more the reason to sell them. replaced with a used set of Enve SES 3.4s and never looked back.

But the roads in Greece aren't great? At least N. Zakythos was a bit cracked up and I've heard other parts can be worse.
