"That far" is always where it starts! I said the same thing the day I bought my car (and I did well until my warranty ran out); then it was "Ok, just an intake" ...and it hasn't ever been "finished" since.
Oh boy, don‘t even get me started on cars :)
And yet sadly, I can replace the wheels on my car for less than I can replace them on my bike. Too many expensive hobbies...

Even worse: check the cost per km/ mile of your tires on your bike and on your car!

Ok then look at the cost of your tires per hour or per happy smile
That's the way I tell myself that the cost are ok. And I ride very good tires all year long.

Agreed. I just don’t look, not for the car, not for the bike. I enjoye my time behind the wheel and on 2 wheels.

That's all truth - you gotta pay to play! Although burning through a set of Nitto NT-05's in a single season stings bit. :noidea:

Anyways, enough hijacking for me, if I come up with any stem options I'll report back.

So I just finished setting up the bike. With my Keo Carbons (244gr) and bottle cages (50gr) , it comes in at 8,33kg. I'm afraid you guys will kick me out of here now

I have a 2016 Defy Advanced Pro 1 which was my first decent road bike, I have upgraded to Di2 and tweaked in a few other ways and I think mine is at around the same weight as yours +/- a few grams.

I just finished building a relatively lightweight Caad12 and comparatively the Defy is no slouch.

if you dont mind post some pictures of your Defy up.

1700g on the wheels is steep, you can cut an easy 200g on some ENVE discs
270g for the bars? take 80g off there
145g for the stem, there are 110g stems out there, ~30g
No listed weights for the saddle anywhere, but just looking at it I'd say go with a lightweight Fizik you'd save a good 60g
Seatpost at 205g not too egregious would skip or possibly save 15g

385g saved but you'll be adding pedals, a good 230g for a total of 165g weight savings off the stock weight.

Unfortunately you're with Ultegra so you're taking on a good 500g
788g SRAM eTap hydro disc + calipers vs 1280g Ultegra equivalent: save 500g savings already with SRAM
Save another
20g on the RD
120g on the cranks
Despite (-)5g penalty on the FD

SRAM red etap is 635g lighter than ultegra di2

800g off stock is 17.1kg. Another 200g!

FSA Ceramic PF30 bottom bracket is 68g
Save another 65g on the cassette
Go shallower on the wheels maybe
