my feeling on the spacers... is that BMC would not supply that many if it was not safe. Looks like Tommy is running the tall cap.. which just makes it look like there is more spacers. I'm probably going to end up with similar (well maybe 10mm less)

Tommy,... thanks for the info... I'm gonna push my LBS for a stem swap if I stay with the 47.. 100mm is not going to make it. 110, maybe even 120.

I wouldn't assume that. BMC also provides replacement part.

Keep in mind that this is a -15 stem. So if you're used to a -6 stem, the -15 would be 17mm lower.

I would hope so... and that is for a variety of reasons.

I know.. my old road bike I was using -12 and it was 120 stem and the bars had more reach and my top tube was longer.. I know the drill. :beerchug:

Is your bike a size too small?
What makes you say that?
Because you have an impressive amount of spacers under that stem while maintaining a good saddle drop. I think a size up would better "fill" the space under your stem and saddle.

Typically, it is recommended to not go over 3 or 4 cm of spacer otherwise it becomes dangerous. I don't know the specific of the BMC, but maybe check with your LBS that your setup is safe.
The owner of the LBS/authorized BMC retailer is the one who assembled the bike for me. He is also the one who did the GURU fit for me on the Roadmachine, and then again on the Timemachine. He actually recommended riding at this position and then gradually removing spacers and then cutting the steerer tube. I also don't naturally have the most aero body position.

Yeah my LBS did not have any problems making the request re: stem. It came with 100 and we asked for 110.

The Saddle to the center of BB is 29" or 73.66cm as best as I can measure.
The other measurement I'm assuming you are asking for the handlebar stack is 23.5" or 59.69cm.

I hope that helps or sounds right. Lemme know if you need anything else that I can help with.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I may be the only one here who liked the white frame but ordered my size 51 through LBS late-January, they got it first week of February. They sent for a stem exchange for my size and I finally got possession Feb 11. A little heavier than I anticipated but very stiff and aero.

So excited to get some miles in.
Nice bike! Don't worry about the spacers, you have three, which is nowhere near risky. And indeed having the high top cone helps with stiffness. I never understand why people would use the low top cone and debate whether to use one or two spacers. Just go high top cone. That's how it was designed in the first place. If you look closely, you can see that the surfaces of the top tube and the high top cone were constructed as one, after which a cone shaped cutout was made to have the top cone rotate around the steering axis. The low top cone was kind of an afterthought for the pro's, so they can get 10mm lower than on an SLR.

It seems like I can't reply to PM's yet due to the newness of my acct. I measure the middle of the BB to the seat. And BB to the bar height vertically. I'll show you a picture of what I measure.

Edited my post after my wife woke up. Had her hold the tape

I usually measure on the non drive side, since you can place the tape pretty accurately on the center of the axis.

Which is what I did. I merely took this picture for spdntrxi one handed for illustration purposes. He was wondering if I measured from the BB or front wheel axle.

I edited the post after my wife woke up and can hold the tape for me

hey... thanks Tommy. I think I'm sticking with my ordered 47... I could nearly slam a 51.. but the seatpost would be pretty low in my opinion as well.

I'm still waiting... LBS said April now.. full bike would be sooner (but $$$$) With my saddle height only being around 69cm.. I'll have next to no seatpost showing on a 51..not a good look. The spacers arent a good look either but it's preferred over the alternative for me.

It has the most extreme stack and reach of all BMC platforms, it's not for everyone. Glad you can still fit okay on a 47.
