The Team Machine SLR already has a very low stack (much lower than a Tarmac) and this one is lower still. You'd have to be a young and uber flexible pro to ride a set up like that, unless you are prepared to put up with a 4 cm tower of spacers...
I"ll put up with 2cm.

for the most part 51 seems like a good fit... but 47 looks good in some areas as well, because of my short legs.

the shimmy is caused from the deep dish 60mm wheel. check out this video the PRO is riding a low profile wheel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sQeb3I_AoE

the problem with the bmc the proprietary crap. the bottle / cages are not very functional according the angry asian . the proprietary bar diameter at 25 is troublsome. very short reach at 66mm OUCH . no mech option. no rim brake option. expensive. no powermeter. limited market.

If they got the integrated bottle cage wrong, that will be the dumbest way to ruin a $12000 bike.
A shitty bottle cage is annoying ALL the time!

54cm of stack and 39cm reach edges on the long and low side for a 54cm sized “race” bike, but not wildly so. A 54cm Trek has the same 39cm reach, but a 52.6cm stack. An equivalent Argon 18 Gallium Pro has a 52cm stack. If anything the Teammachine is on the tall side for common sizes.

Code: Select all

55.5cm stack, 38.1cm reach - Trek Emonda SLR H2

55.1cm stack, 38.7cm reach - Cannondale SuperSix Evo
55.0cm stack, 38.6cm reach - BMC Teammachine SLR01
55.0cm stack, 38.6cm reach - Pinarello Dogma F10
54.8cm stack, 38.9cm reach - Scott Addict SL
54.8cm stack, 38.3cm reach - Lapierre Xelius SL
54.8cm stack, 38.0cm reach - Cervélo R5
54.7cm stack, 38.4cm reach - (55cm trad.) Colnago C60
54.6cm stack, 38.5cm reach - Canyon Ultimate CF SLX
54.5cm stack, 38.8cm reach - (55cm) Bianchi Specialissima
54.5cm stack, 38.3cm reach - Giant TCR Advanced SL
54.4cm stack, 38.4cm reach - S-Works Tarmac
54.3cm stack, 38.8cm reach - (52cm) Merida Scultura
54.2cm stack, 38.4cm reach - Ridley Helium SLX
54.2cm stack, 38.4cm reach - Factor O2

52.6cm stack, 39.0cm reach - Trek Emonda SLR H1

52.0cm stack, 39.0cm reach - Argon 18 Gallium Pro (!!!)

Was looking at the bigger sizes I ride (58).

Any data on the aero performance of the TeamMachine Road compared to the Venge, Tarmac, F10, Aeroad, etc...?

The very short handlebar reach may compensate the frame reach for final hand position relative to BB.

Boy that’s the year of the ugly designs... while the idea is great, how on earth did they came with something “integrated” that look so “non integrated”????

Integrated storage and disc brakes? I'll steal a line from a clever reaction to the Diamondback Andean: "Great, this has what cyclists have long been missing: greater stopping power and a place to store a rotisserie chicken." :)

That's surely looking better than saddle bag. I'd remove that if not riding far from home.

Any photos without the 'integrated storage'? I bet it will look even worse than it already does...

There's a mock up on the website and in the pdf at the end of the page on the website.

It is strange that you have to really search the BMC website to get to the new TimeMachine page. I would assume a new release would pop up on the main page itself.

Anyhow, looks like they only have one color option for each offering they have. The black on black module looks great but almost everyone has a black on black bike nowadays...

The pricing is also a bit strange for me. A complete bike set you back at $12,999 in USD. A module is only $4,499. Pricing based on bikeradar page. So the difference is $8,500. But the module already came with stem, bar, Aero module (bottle cage, bottles, storage unit) and saddle. So the remaining things needed are a wheel set, group set and bar tape. A quick search saw a complete Shimano Dura-Ace R9170 Di2 Disc Groupset for $3,100. An ENVE SES 5.6 Disc with Chris King ceramic hub goes for $3,400. A Lizard Skin bar tape goes for $35. Total is $6,535. There is $1,965 to spare. So I better get the module and build it up myself. I can even throw in a power meter and padels with the spare money. What am I missing?

Saw the module pricing at Cyclingtips website to be at $5,500. That still gives me almost $1k to spare.

While I am sure these new aero bikes do provide some performance gains, you have to completely sacrifice the looks to save a few watts.

Never thought I'd say that a venge seems more aesthetically appealing than a BMC...
