I’m trying to lighten my TCR disc, I’ve been looking at through axles as the standard ones seem quite heavy.
Is there a “go-to” standard for light 12x142 and 12x100 through axles? Any cheap, light options.
Any help much appreciated.

I have been using Shift-Up X12 axles without issues.

SRAM Maxle Stealth axles are pretty cheap and about as light as any other option.

Rear depends on length but here are some options:

164mm: https://www.worldwidecyclery.com/produc ... ge-nosto-3
170.5mm (Giant?): https://www.worldwidecyclery.com/produc ... ge-nosto-3
170mm: https://www.worldwidecyclery.com/produc ... ge-nosto-3
174mm: https://www.worldwidecyclery.com/produc ... ge-nosto-2

DT-Swiss RWS is a "go-to" standard for axles and indeed you can vastly lighten it by removing the head lever which just serves a handy tool other than a hex wrench.

Note I'm not guaranteeing it's compatible with your bikes, especially since no thread pitch is specified.

I’m guessing Giant uses the Shimano E-Thru standard, which many people make thru axles for. DT and a bunch of others should make one.

My Canyon bike uses a 12x100 with a pitch of 1 on the front, i can't find any axles that uses that too, the one on the bike is from dt swiss, i can't even find that anywhere, does anyone know where i can get a lighter one?

Shift-Up and Robert Axle Project have the biggest selection of axles in whatever pitch and width you need. Keep in mind that you need to know what standard your brand uses...X-12/Syntace, E-Thru, “basic,” etc. You will also want to be aware that a 12x100 thru axle will actually be more like a 12x121-123mm axle and a rear 12x142 will be 12x167-168mm or something like that. It is best to physically measure your old axle before ordering.

In addition, Shift-Up idiotically calls its 12mm thru axles X12, not to be confused with X-12/Syntace.

Yeah, that had me thoroughly confused when I first saw it. It makes no sense.

I ended up replacing the front one, I can’t remember which one I got but it was one of the smaller sips that does QR’s, top caps, computer mounts and CNC bits.
It’s perfect, picked the Shimano/DTswisd thread and it’s all good.
