I don’t know what you mean by catering only to people who need a bigger range when you have no idea what chainrings and cassettes will be offered. Adding a cog gives you flexibility. Something like a 48/35x10-26t would seem pretty damn good jumpwise. Something like a 50/37x11-26t would also be possible. I don’t think SRAM will be as limiting as Campagnolo, who currently only have 11-29t and 11-32t options.

Here’s what those flatlander cassettes might look like.

(10-11-12-13–14-15-16-17-19-21-23-26)
(11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-21-23-26)
(10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23-25)

I guess I'm really talking about that 10 tooth cog here. Instead of using 12 speed to add harder gears which nobody needs (50/10 is bigger than 53/12 right? CMIIR) it would be better to reduce the gaps within the current range. Those cassettes you detail look pretty alright, especially the one that starts on 11, but seeing as Campagnolo seem to be sticking with pie plate cassettes I wouldn't be surprised if Sram does the same.

Campagnolo cassettes are pretty good, but I'd rather have an 18 instead of 11 on both.

Battery has a slightly different shape. Current eTap has a flat face where it mates to the der’s.

Edit: No looks like there’s a bit of a fairing(?) that sticks out more and covers the bottom half of tbe battery-der interface.

It's a fairing. It's probably a half-hearted attempt to address the broken battery tab issue since it prevents you from twisting the battery side to side.

SRAM uploaded 2 new tech videos about XDR (vs XD) in october 2018, this strong indicator that XDR driver body will be used for 12 speed:

SRAM hinted journalists to look for components on JPow and WvA bike:
“Keep your eye out for something special on Jeremy Powers’ bike,” a SRAM/Zipp representative told us at Interbike in September. “Wout van Aert’s bike too.” (CX Magazine)

wva cassette size: 10-36 (CX Magazine)

That is likely just badging for sponsored riders/teams as SRAM has not enjoyed good visibility in traditional road lately.

Also this probably means the cranksets will still come in GXP flavors in addition to Dub since I doubt the Trek-Segafredo bikes are pro-only with special non-BB90 shells.

Yeah, I saw that. I guess my sarcasm didn’t come through. Interesting to see Trek isn’t holding back on showing off the new contract. You can’t even get the DA power meter on the Project One website anymore. Not sure if it’s still in stock on Dexter, but it’s off the public site.

I’m still wondering when Trek ditches BB90. That timeline is surely condensed with SRAM sponsoring their factory teams.

We’ll see soon enough. I think the next bike due for an upgrade is the Domane, in March. And even more speculating: maybe we see Trek introduce a new Emonda SLR in July, to recapture the “lightest frame set” crown, again.
