If gravel takes off and largely takes over road bikes in sales, they will be a generation up on Shimano and big blue will take ages to recover.
Gravel won't take over the road market for the simple fact that most roads aren't gravel.

I doubt gravel will be a fad like the Fat Bike explosion, but it'll get to a level and stay there. Bigger than 'cross probably, but still a relatively small segment of the overall road market.

Gravel bikes are a superset to road bikes. Most people who buy more endurance road bikes and even race bikes would probably be better off with a gravel bike as an N=1. They’re nice for the crumbling infrastructure in the western US. They’re nice for occasional gravel, mixed trails, and they’re adequate for group rides or solo endurance rides.

I know Checkpoint has done exceedingly well for Trek, but can’t speak for other brands.

If SRAM thinks gravel is 1x only.. they are mistaken. I highly prefer 2x on gravel... maybe 13 or 14 speed could sway me.. but for mixed surfaces 2x all the way. I dont like the big jumps in cadence.

My gravel bike has been a blast so far... as far as group rides I'm the one lacking, I get dropped on the usual climbs or kickers. Partly my fault for leaving tires with terrible Crr on... so I cant hit some offroad stuff if I feel the need on my way home.

The new blipbox is pricing outrageously offensive. That would be $385 for a plastic button please.

It's about the same price as an Apple watch...

The reality of hinging AXS on gravel would imply that the average gravel punter can afford the price gap between mechanical 1x11 or Di2 with XT rear mech etc setups with already large gear ranges to get one more sprocket.

170 euro for a force cassette is pretty steep.

They don't usually have the single block cnc design.

I'm curious to see if force cranks use a smaller bcd convential chainring bolt design.

Does anyone know if standard 11s chainrings will work with 12s sram chains?

If the 1270 is also CNC'ed how did Sram manage to price it at half of the price of the 1290.

By the way the Dura Ace chain is $35 at my local bike shop. So the Force is now competing with Dura Ace?

Nothing 11-speed will work with the 12-speed. The new 12-speed chain has a different diameter roller. The chain won't fit on a traditional chainring.

What about campy 12s or eagle chains?

Are 12s chains now departing from a common standard? :?

Campy 12spd and Eagle chains are close enough to work with each other. KMC makes a 12spd chain that works with both. You cannot use any of those chains with eTap AXS and you can't use the 12spd SRAM Road / AXS chains with those mentioned groups.
