Saw a photo of Jeremy Powers riding a 1x CX setup with etap hydro hoods.
Looks like a clutched RD with standard cage length running an 11-32? Anyone else seen anyhting?
Also not a standard SRAM crank, maybe new prototype power meter and 4 bolt chainring?
Photo from CX Magazine Rochester race coverage.

That is at least a 11-36t and I count 12 sprockets. (Counted rows of teeth just under the chainstay.)
So, 1x12 road eTap has finally been seen in the wild. Not sure what to make of the crankset. The protrusion on the back of the crankarm could be a battery door.

The protrusion kinda looks like an eTap battery…TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 3:48 pmNot sure what to make of the crankset. The protrusion on the back of the crankarm could be a battery door.
yeah that thing looks MASSIVE
Best I can count is 11 cogs. Not that I doubt it's 12sp, just can't see the 12th in the picture.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 3:48 pmThat is at least a 11-36t and I count 12 sprockets. (Counted rows of teeth just under the chainstay.)

Just speculation but about that crankset, could it possibly be a self-aligning chainring to straighten the chainline?

Not sure if that would account for the bulk though

^ how to make 1x even heavier than it already is, and more complicated too.
What about cassette and chain wear of a 1x system compared to a 2x system. Is there any such comparison?
Crosschaining + riding on the same 1-3 gears on the cassette for a long time. Doesn't that increase wear?
What about using a 3x11 electronic system where it automatically avoids crosschaining unless you flip a switch.

Front shifting is one of the harshest actions on a chain so my bet is chainwear is at worst about the same between 1x and 2x
This. Plus chainline is better than a 2x in the big -> big. Will it be for everyone? No. Will it be good for some? Yes.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Fri Sep 21, 2018 2:10 amFront shifting is one of the harshest actions on a chain so my bet is chainwear is at worst about the same between 1x and 2x

SRAM again mentions XDR freehubs in some new SRAM TECH videos on YouTube. I imagine an announcement is imminent.
